Watched a few clips from the first few weeks and it's not for me. Corden's adequate enough but the whole thing just feels so corporate now, so identical to Kimmel and Fallon's shows, both of which were already largely interchangeable.
The thing that made Craig so watchable was that he just always felt so natural and don't-give-an-aye-caramba , even waaaaaay back in his early shows. There'll be an audience for this new-same-as-everything-else Late, Late Show cos there already is an audience for it. But it's not a show I'll be hunting down on YouTube every week as I did during and Craig and Geoff's reign. Craig was edgy, even when he was sucking up, which wasn't often. Now he too is sucking up on his lame game show. And true too to those who said Craig wasn't the same after the new studio. He seemed not to care anymore. Early Craig was so refreshing. No one here is old enough to remember Johnny Carson, but even when he was sucking up, you knew he was faking it. Letterman used to be edgy, then he too went corporate with his $1000. suits. This little guy Corden is twee, is that the word you all use? Like the second Miss Marple, the one with the gack, sex life! ![]() When he sucks up, it appears he means it. If he has an edge, he'd do best to bring it out soon. Otherwise, he's going to disappear into a pool of liquid sycophant. Right again, he fits into the new mold of Kimmel and Fallon and Meyer and Leno before them and Griffin before him, and even THEY are/were not this TWEE. Judas Priest, when did America turn into a happy cesspool of inane pleasantness? |

I've enjoyed it but he seems a bit too sucky up in the chair when he pulls up next to them on the sofa and sort of in their personal space a bit much. I don't like his waddling on either he looks like a schoolboy being called into the headmasters office and is maybe creeping up to the american public a bit too much. I'm hoping as he settles in he will get edgier and a bit more sarky as he was like that here.

As for James he is doing a lot to try and to gain the common touch, hosting from a viewers living room was inspired although maybe contrived, and is trying to establish his own unique brand. His interview technique is lacking though especially coming after Craig!
And now he can hardly do it again as it was a unique twist to the format. Similarly when Ferguson did a one-to-one interview with Fry with no audience. Several talk shows over here have done or still do that now and I suspect some in the US do to, although not the late night glitzy talk shows. |

Last night's show was brilliant, hosted from some random's house. It had a bit of a Big Breakfast feel to it.
To be honest, it wasn't really anything new - it reminded me of the time when Letterman hosted the show from his house while he was waiting for the cable guy in the 80s, or when Conan hosted his show from a boat or from the 30 Rock lobby in a lazee-boy chair following a electrical fault or fire on the 6th floor in the 90s. But the fact is that no one is really doing this sort of thing anymore, and I always enjoy seeing it. I like the fact that James Corden isn't afraid to venture out of the studio with a camera crew, I can't think of any other late night talk show hosts who still do that, apart from Conan. |

Bingo, bingo, and bingo. Spot on, Ed.

Letterman used to be edgy, then he too went corporate with his $1000. suits. The Gameshow he's doing is just to keep his foot in the door. There can recorded 100 odd of the dam things over a month that leaves him free to tour etc the other five months. |

I like the show. The life model was pretty funny. They should show it in the UK.

Anyone know what the song is that Reggie has ended the show with a few times.
He changes the lyrics each time. |

Not surprising that the bassist is getting a lot of attention. She has a sexy vibe to her.

I’m still enjoying this, Simon Cowell was on last night’s show so that should be worth a watch (I haven’t seen it yet as it’s literally still airing on the west coast!).

He should get a bit of a boost too over the next few weeks as David Letterman (the king of late night, in my opinion) hosts his final shows. |

Why does he speak in this high pitched poshy voice now. He never used to. His arse kissing is painful, but there are good parts of his show. Still early days.

As for his arse kissing, it’s no worse than Jimmy Fallon and he has the most successful talk show on television right now, so maybe there’s something to it. But I do find it a bit annoying sometimes (and I really like Corden’s and Fallon’s shows), I much preferred Craig Ferguson’s honest, informal, style. Much like David Letterman too. Or you could go half way like Conan O’Brien’s style, friendly without the obvious arse kissing, that would be fine with me too. It’s just the over the top fawning of James Corden and Jimmy Fallon that can be annoying at times. |

I don't watch this show in full, i just watch all the clips that appear on the YouTube channel for this show which is good enough for me. I saw Simon Cowell on the show, jesus what's he done to his face?! Plastic surgery gone wrong imo! Lol.
I do think he's settled into the role really well and getting into a fully formed routine. On occasion he does get some good info out of his guests which i haven't heard before. I haven't noticed his voice change, sounds the same to me. Posher....maybe? But nothing that's stood out, so i haven't really noticed anything major. That's the last thing i focus on when i'm watching the clips. That 3 min jam with Reggie Watts, Dave Grohl and Rainn Wilson was amazing! He just walked away from the stage and let them get on with it. Good stuff! |

I don't watch many of the other chat shows but do they do musical numbers?
Corden is a jack of all trades but seems to get the guests to do some good/funny routines. |

Fallon does a lot of musical numbers. Either with the band or particular guests, Justin Timberlake being a prime example.

I don't think he's changed. He's the same as he is over here.
It's not Craig Ferguson at his best, but I think he's doing really well - it's a good, fun show. |

Anyone still interested? The LLS youtube feed now resembles your average Vlog or celeb mag (what's trending, features involving celebrities) bit lacklustre after what was a rather inventive first two weeks.
