kim Wilde never really set the album charts alight, never had fabulously massive hits (apart from a few), but she did have a strong, loyal fan base. Her vocals were often described as "nasally" but she had a unique and distinctive sound and her songs were usually rock chick with a disco beat! It was surprising then, to discover, that when she tried to return to her music career in 2006 after an 11 year gap, no UK record company would give her the time of day. She was considered too old and too risky.

However, in 2006 she secured a three record deal with EMI Germany and her albums were a moderate success in Germany and across Europe where they all entered the top 20.

Are there any Kim Wilde fans out there who enjoyed her while she was here and didn't know she had recorded new albums?

The albums are:
(2006): Never Say Never
(2010): Come Out and Play
(2011): Snapshots
(2013): Wilde's Winter Songbook

Kids in America, View From a Bridge, Cambodia, You Keep Me Hanging On, You Came, Never Trust a Stranger, If I Can't Have You...................some really great records there! Does anyone else have a favourite?

I still listen to her hits collection regularly, I really liked her Close album from 88.

Singles wise you listed most of my favourites, I would also add Love In The Natural Way, It's Here, Love Is Holy, Another Step (Closer To You), The Second Time and Chequered Love. My favourite is You Came.

I would like to see her live but she never travels to Scotland and I've never fancied those 80's revival tours, I assume the acts get 5 songs each and the bill is never that good.

I'm not a fan of her recent albums.

She was fantastic I her day and I always like her voice, never the strongest or most in tune but unique.

Yes, the "Close" album was probably the best of her career - along with "Select". Her new albums are a bit "meh" except "Come Out and Play" which does have some decent tracks on it. Yeah, her voice was often off -key but that's why I like her. I seem to go for female vocalists who have not so good voices but have just that something about them. She always seemed to be like the girl next door - with attitude!

One of my favourite albums is "Love Moves" from 1990. Has some really good tracks on it such as "Storm in our Hearts".

She does solo tours now. Well, if you can count her doing a few duets with Nik Kershaw, as she has left behind those "*80's revivals" gigs.

That's good to know, I noticed she toured last year just before Christmas but no dates in Scotland.

On Love Moves I remember being surprised that It's Here wasn't a hit I really liked that song, the second single Time (not that good but I seem to remember a megamix as the b side which I liked) pretty much ended the album. Storm Of Our Hearts is a good song and I remember liking I Can't Say Goodbye, I have the album on LP in the loft as I no longer have a record player to play it on.

Cambodia is one of my favourite songs from the 80s. It wasn't a particularly massive hit in the UK, but was in Europe. My other two favourites by Kim are Never Trust a Stranger and You Came.

Her albums have been more miss than hit but I do love a lot of her 80's stuff. Cambodia, the second time, never trust a stranger and you came are some of the standouts. Also her duet with nena, anyplace, anytime from the 00s is brilliant too.
I'd love to get to a headline gig at some stage.

I absolutely adore Kim Wilde and have been a fan of hers for about 30 years.

Her career has certainly had a lot of ups and downs and she talks quite frankly about this in interviews, saying she was often very unhappy. The difference these days is that she seems to be managing her career absolutely on her own terms and looks happier than ever... so she's touring constantly and seems to love it, and is currently working on a new album (it'll be her 14th!)

I've seen her live lots of times, including those 80s revival shows which are actually brilliant. Plus she did a headline show in London in 2013 which was great, then last year I was lucky enough to go to a (very) intimate Christmas gig at Knebworth House with around 100 people in the audience, which was wonderful.

Have met her a couple of times and both times she was absolutely lovely.

My favourite albums are 'Close', 'Love Is' and 'Teases and Dares'.

I'm a huge fan, I love her early 80s output, Her first 4 albums in my opinion are flawless, I do like her later stuff too, but I didn't find it as consistent as her early material.

My top ten would be
01 - Suburbs Of Moscow
02 - Dream Sequence
03 - View From a Bridge
04 - Water On Glass
05 - Janine
06 - You Keep Me Hanging On
07 - Who Do You Think You Are
08 - Never Trust a Stranger
09 - Kids In America
10 - Cambodia

Yes it was, and yes they are.

Admittedly, there is only of that line up left but they were as great as ever. I hadn't seen them since 1985..

They were largely responsible for giving Kim her fame - that and her dad and brother. I really feel nostalgic lately, the 80's were the best times of my life. It was an age of great music, great TV, and people were more passionate about the things they believed in and sounded their opinions more freely then. Yes we had Thatcher and her haters and supporters but people were vocal, people were writing songs to reflect the feeling of the country. The Enid were a superb band and you really feel the angst in their music style. Oh, those really were the days. These days we've all rolled over and do nothing about everything.

They still are wonderful. Robert John Godfrey has the early signs of Alzheimers and intends to retire and let the other guys in the band carry on with the name.

The Enid really shone on the fabulous album "Select". That album is flawless and the reprise of Cambodia is how you blooming well close an album. The sound of that 1982 album was so far ahead of its time. it remains one of my all time favourite albums.

Yes i agree with you here, i effing love that reprise! I Only really just discovered Kim about 6 years ago, i started from the RAK era onwards, definatley the RAK years were her best, shame Catch As Catch Can & Teases & Dare suffered a lot on the album charts.

Yes, I like Kim wilde a lot, and Cambodia was one of her more distinctive songs. I am saddened that this is rarely played on the radio, and nor are Love Blonde and The Second Time.

I could share a little exclusive here.

Words Fell Down
View From a Bridge
Take Me Tonight
Cambodia + Reprise
House of Salome
Dream Sequence
The Touch
The Second Time
Victims
You Keep Me Hanging On
Brothers
Love in the Natural Way
Never Trust a Stranger
Stone
It's Here
Storm in Our Hearts
I Can't Get Enough (Of Your Love)
I Believe In You
Touched By Your Magic
Million Miles Away
A Miracle's Coming
If I Can't Have You
This I Swear
Heaven
Real Life
Get Out

Those songs should keep me quiet for a couple of hours!

You Came is one of the finest pop records ever made. Saw Kim rifling through the twelve inches in Tower Records back in the late eighties. I thought of inviting her to examine mine.....

Still got her 80s singles in the original picture sleeves!

You all do know that she has her own request show on Sundays on Magic, 10:00am - 13:00pm, don't you?

Love Kim Wilde, and really looking forward to her new album; given she's taken her time with this one, i'm expecting big things.

I think her albums don't get anywhere near as much credit as they should - every single one from the debut to 'Close' is thoroughly brilliant and engaging pop music. Love Moves and Love Is from the 1990's had some highlights too, but something had been lost, and on 2006's 'Never Say Never' she hinted that she was not to be written off yet, then 'Come Out & Play' was a fantastic return to form. 'Snapshots' is dire except for the rather inspired 'To France' and 'Wilde Winter Songbook' is the best seasonal album ever...

Come Out and Play is a really enjoyable album and there really are some cracking tracks on it. It is like the first three Wilde albums meets Close with ecstacy! I have only just got it it as I have not really been into my music in recent years and heard "Love Moves" the other week and it sparked my interest again. I have also got Never Say Never but it is a little bit "too loud" for me (I must be getting old!), but still a good album. I heard Snapshots on Youtube because I wasn't sure if I liked the idea of a Kim Wilde covers album because she and her team are capable of writing great original tracks. I don't like the idea of the covers album at all, it sounds cheap, rushed, ill-thought out and portrays Kim in a bargain basement way. I won't be buying it.

Is it true her new album is being recorded in the UK and is getting a proper UK release? If so, and considering she has said it is heavily 80's influenced, I am actually really excited about it. Any ideas when it will be released?
