I'm still not sure about this whole thing. I've always had the impression that Zayn is only in it for the money aspect, unlike his bandmates (especially Harry and Niall) who seem to truly enjoy the fame.
That said, I do hope Zayn does produce a solo album in the near future, his voice is the best thing about 1D, and that will surely be missed.
Edit: Has it actually been confirmed that Zayn went into the studio the day after the announcement? If no liable source has confirmed anything, then it should be taken with a pinch of salt.
