Internet channels on smart tv

I've just got an LG smart TV and was going to get a sky box attached but visually to big for the wall. How many channels are available over the net? Has anyone got any good links

Thanks

You can see what services are available on an LG Smart TV here

As you can see nowhere near a match for what you can get over satellite.

By the way have a good look round the back of the telly. Some LG models have a satellite tuner built in but don't shout about it. You won't get the Sky pay channels on it obviously but will get a load of the free channels.

Well I was under the impression that as you were contemplating installing a Sky box you had a satellite dish and cabling in situ for it? If so one of the cables from the dish that would have gone to the Sky box goes to the satellite socket on the back of the telly.

Tuning works pretty much the same as Freeview. I'm not sure if it would pick up the Freesat EPG or just concoct it's own version of the channel listing though.

But be absolutely sure the TV has a Satellite socket on the back, labelled as such. If there isn't one then you can't connect the dish to the TV. Not all TVs have a satellite tuner built in. It could also have a Cable TV connection which uses the same F-Type screw on connectors as satellite but that won't work with a satellite dish feed.

So you have to make sure it has the right connections and the right tuner built in before attempting to connect it all up.

Think most of the newer LG's do have that satellite antenna input, so you can get freesat and freeview - and with an external HD record from both. Mine certainly does, but I still attach my humax freesat to it via HDMI as that still has recordings on it - and, er, a clock!

But if the LG does have the satellite input, no need for a box. Way to go, LG!!

But are they all Freesat?, or just FTA - most recent Sony sets have FTA satellite, but NOT Freesat - and the FTA is an unsupported feature in the UK.
