Need help picking out a TV

I have a budget of around £900-£1200 and have no where to start. This purchase would be a TV that would need to last me at least 5 years so am leaning towards 4K. I currently have a 42 inch LG so would need to go to at least 50 inch. I've seen this one "LG 49UB850V 49-inch Widescreen Ultra HD Smart TV" so if anyone has this I would live your thoughts?

As you're wanting to go 4K I would suggest waiting until things are sorted out - assuming 4K broadcasts (presumably via satellite?) do actually begin, there's no guarantee that a set you buy now will be capable of receiving them, and could require a set-top box in order to do so.

However, if your TV is knackered and you MUST buy a new one, then personally I wouldn't go the 4K route 'yet' - by the time a set you buy now is ready to be replaced, there 'might' be something happening with 4K.

Thank you. I did wonder about how ready everything is for 4K. So if you or anyone else can point me in the right direction of something else that would be great. It will be mailny used for gaming and movies.

A quick trip down the high street perhaps - support your local retailer?

I can't see 4K being a standard for long, tech is progressing too quickly now, and 8k is already being tested, so I can see this being unstoppable now.

Whereas HD had time to bed in, I believe 4K is just going to be part of a continuing evolution.

I was thinking that.

Thanks, wanted to get peoples thoughts first as I'm not not sure what all the specs mean once why I cam here. Been looking at the Samsung 60H6200 60-inch, for this price range would this be a smart move?
