Trying to think of (TV) companions who never faced the Daleks and I'm only getting 9. That's if you don't count Rosita separately but assuming the 'specials companions' do count. Am I missing any?

Dodo
Zoe
Liz
Leela
Nyssa
Mel
Grace
Jackson Lake
Lady Christina

I should throw in the Paternoster Gang, shouldn't I? And does Danny Pink count as a companion?

Adric never met the Daleks.

Romana I didn't meet them, if you want to count her as being separate from Romana II.

K-9 Mark I never met the Daleks at all. K-9 Mark II did appear in a Dalek story, but never actually encountered them.

If you count Kamelion as being a companion, neither of his two stories involved the Daleks.

If Lady Christina does, surely Astrid Peth does too?

Yeah, thanks, forgot about Astrid and the metal companions. I was counting Romana as one person, but just realised how hard it is to think of the various editions of K-9 as not the same. Do they have the same software inside, like the sonic screwdriver?

And Adric, how could I forget Adric? Well, quite easily to preserve my sanity.

Pity, they may have exterminated him.

Very good list there, can't think of anyone else you could have missed and I don't blame you for missing out Adric!

It's incredible to think just how close Tegan came to not meeting the Daleks. Her last story, if only she'd gone one story earlier she'd be on the list.

I think the one companion I regret not meeting the Daleks is Zoe. She met the Ice Warriors and Cybermen but not them. Imagine how she could have Dazzled the Daleks in that catsuit.............

Zoe never met the Daleks but she did watch them on television!

One of the Nyssa/Dalek stories (The Elite?) also involves Tegan (pre-Resurrection).

So Tegan met the Daleks twice!

Mary Tamm's Romana didn't meet the Daleks on TV, but has in the BF story The Dalek Contract. Also Leela never met the Daleks on TV, but since has in the BF story Energy of the Daleks.

Have got both of those, and their brilliant! Well worth the £20 that I spent buying them. They were £10 each on amazon, at the time, over two years ago.

Just remembered some other Assistants who've never met the Daleks.

Liz Shaw (No Daleks at all during the 1970 Season. The only one to feature Liz in all the stories)

Zoe Herriot (saw a small clip of a Dalek on the Scanner Screen in The Tardis, but not actually met them in person)

Abigail (Katherine Jenkins)

Madge Arwell (Claire Skinner from Outnumbered)

Dorothy 'Dodo' Chaplet (Jackie Lane)

Melanie Bush (Bonnie Langford)

Plus, the Victorian version of Clara hasn't seen the Daleks. Only the 'Asylum' Clara, and the Series 7, 8 and 9 Clara has, in the episode 'Into The Dalek'.

i don't really count them 3 as companion's as they only appeared once and never travelled in the Tardis, Grace did but she was only in one story. i count companions as people who have either travelled in the Tardis with the Doctor more than once or have had more than two adventures with him.

I'd have loved to see Leela go up against the Daleks; would've been awesome!

I don't listen to BF, unfortunately, so it'll just have to play out in my head.

Energy of the Daleks is really good to listen to. It has two 28 minute parts on 1 disc, plus an interview at the end.

Shame you don't bother with BF, as you're missing out on something great!

Not really. I don't care what SM has said about Danny being a companion, but IMO he isn't one. For a start, he hasn't time travelled in the Blue Box with Twelve and Clara.

Also, he hasn't seen the Daleks.

It's more that I struggle to listen to audios - I just can't really get into them is all! Which yeah, it does suck, but hey. One day someone may make some animations or visuals or comics to go along with the Big Finish audios and I'll be a happy bunny!

If Jon Pertwee had got his way - the THIRD Doctor would never have met them either!
Thanks to public demand - he endured them more than any of his successors!

They try to make sure all of the Doctors get one Dalek story. Three and Five got theirs quite late, but One, Two, Four, Six, Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve all met them in their debut seasons. Seven had his Dalek story at the start of his second season. Eight of course, was screwed over by not getting a series, but has met them plenty of times in Big Finish.

In terms of 'Dalek stories' (11 had two main Dalek stories, but then a number of cameo Dalek appearances), Jon's on a par with David Tennant.
