I saw a very attractive blackbird in Emmerdale the other day. The seagulls in Home & Away aren't bad looking either.

Some words of advice to the original poster, don't ever use the word "fit". Use "beautiful" or "pretty". That disgusting word is just disrespectful towards women.

I think Stacey (Lacey Turner) from EE and Chrissie (Louise Marwood) from ED are very good looking. Confidence is attractive, and they have it.

I think everyone will know that when you or anyone says the word "fit" when talking about girls/women, it is because you're basically saying in other words, they're good looking. So yes, it's obviously a compliment.

I think though that the word "fit" is mainly used by teenagers isn't it? I mean, a boy would say that about a girl as opposed to a man saying that about a woman ?

I agree, that's why I made the comment about the blackbird and seagulls. I think the word "bird" as a description of a female is derogatory and says a lot about the person saying it in that way.

I'd be interested, if anyone can tell me where it came from actually!! I kind of associate it with Cockney but I don't know why cos it's always been used up here as well!! As for fit, that was in use when I was at school late 70's then sort of reappeared a few years ago!! It's used for both sexes though so don't really see it as derogatory to women in particular!!

I think that the term "bird" when used to describe a woman isn't so much a derogatory thing, but it definitely is part of the working class culture, and probably cockney as well.

The likes of Mick Carter and Alfie Moon would be the sort of men to use it....

I actually quite like it really

I mean, obviously it does come across as a bit common now, and maybe in years to come, it'll be too oldfashioned, but I don't think men in general, use it to be sexist to women, it's probably what they've copied from their Dad!

I thought Lacey looked her very best in 2009 when her hair was dyed blonde for the bipolar storyline. That look really suited her.
