But...why ? Why is it any more odd than a Tuesday? I don't follow.
ITV shows so little comedy (a shamefully low amount for a leading commercial network IMO) that you could argue they would look odd in just about any timeslot. Putting them on a Tuesday would be giving them no chance whatsoever looking at their run of form in that slot. They just don't fire there for whatever reason, we know that. Comedy is a hard genre at the best of times, so don't make it even harder than it has to be when results are needed ! I just wanted to see something lighter on Tuesday. I don't think I have ever watched ITV on a Tuesday bar when IAC is on, or the semi finals of a BGT series. That's basically the only reason. Slot means a lot in the US so it can mean a lot here too. For example, the ABC networks successful Weds comedy block. Put them on a Tuesday and they will all plummet. The Goldbergs was on the brink of being cancelled on ABC on Tuesday but since moving to Weds on the second series it nearly doubled its ratings. With NBC Thursdays, that's a death slot. They always try and recreate a Friends success but since then, NBC has always struggled on Thurs. So my earlier post was based on experimentation. Comedies could do well on the Tuesday slot. That's all im saying. They should try different things on Tues to see what works. I think Mondays and Wednesdays are probably doing the best out if all the days on ITV (Saturday is being saved by SNT). |

Seems odd Still Open All Hours hasn't been re commissioned after a very successful series.
The most popular BBC sitcom is now 40 year old repeats of Dads Army and afternoon showing of classic 80s sitcoms . |

Well the only reason is because everything struggles on Tuesday, comedy is something thatsis rare on ITV in weekdays. Not saying it won't do well on Weds but they need to try new things on Tuesday. ITV just seems to have given up on that day.

Not sure Ibiza Weekender will be getting renewed. Last night's series closer mustered 0.32m (1.3%) at 9pm which is only okay. I think ITV will have expected more, especially with little in the way of 16-34 competition on the main channels. And over the course of the 8 weeks it probably hasn't done enough. |

Worst rating of the weekend must be Indian Summers still dropping to under million.C4 must be getting worried having already ordered a second series.

Very good for Mr Bean. As ITV is currently on a 'Bring back older shows' experiment, Mr Bean could return

Yes, there's no excuse for Corrie to fail on a Sunday night at eight o'clock, it's a Sunday night at eight o'clock. A brilliant slot.

Perhaps? but it will probably export well. Its the sort of thing the Yanks enjoy. It will probably win all the awards going next year and it is pretty decent to watch. So I suspect Channel Four are pleased they have commisoned a second series. A tough slot, a shame the beeb are so strong in that slot on a Sunday. Poldark is doing very nicely. Perhaps a mid week slot for the second series?
Obviously it's been disappointing what's happened in the overnights but at the same time I don't think it's quite the flop some are desperate to make it out to be. It would be different if it was timeshifting at a more normal level, but part of the problem I think is normal seems to have gone out the window when it comes to certain drama timeshifts recently. And this becomes more magnified when you look away from the big two. But then BBC Two manages appointment to view drama (e.g. Banished) so it can still be done. |

I wouldn't be as quick as you to blame the slot, although it's not one I'd have chosen so I don't disagree that it was not the best choice. I can't help but feel there's more to it than that though. It's a very hard to assess because of this huge gap between the overnights and officials. Two pieces of information, both telling you very different things. I preferred the simpler days of there being relatively little between them and the official only serving to confirm what you already knew. It's not much good having all this data and now the 28 day stuff too if at the end of it you still don't know what to think.

IT'S TIME FOR A NEW SEASON ON THE DSRPG!
The Ark graces our screens on Monday but will it sink or swim? Could the Leaders' debate poll well? Will Michael McIntyre's Easter Outing be a post-Lent pick me up or heavier than a hundred Easter eggs being devoured by Vera? Thunderbirds returns; how will it launch? Both Only Connect and The Voice UK reach their final stage but, unlike at Strangeways, there shouldn't be a riot. I can't be so sure about Italy v England, though. Breaking Dawn combines kissing and blood sucking but will it suck in the final figures? Eurovision makes an early appearance but will it be number one in the hit parade? Whether you're a regular, a lapsed player or brand new to the game why not take part? Just left click HERE, hit 'Quote', delete the Quote marks and get predicting! Thank you to everyone who takes part in advance.

It doesn't say anything about ITV excluding HD, but perhaps it does. I'll amend accordingly when DS updates.
In the mean time, a few multichannel numbers of note (again exc. +1): Hollyoaks (E4): 0.60m / 3.2% Modern Family (Sky1): 0.46m / 2.1% Bluestone 42 (BBC Three): 0.40m / 2.3% Would I Lie to You? (Dave): 0.36m / 2.5% Criminal Minds (Sky Living): 0.29m / 1.3% |

Corrie was the most-watched show of the day, bringing in 7.52m (36.7%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 141k (0.6%) on +1 as Sarah arrived back on the cobbles for a showdown with her daughter Bethany. 7.2m (30.6%) returned at 8.30pm and 161k (0.7%) on +1 as the pair clashed over Bethany's bad behaviour.

Apologies for the mistake, wasn't intended to mislead. I'm trying out the Broadcast app which I've only had a day.
It's going to be useless for ITV numbers due to the lack of HD. It's already pretty unhelpful for the commercial channels due to a lack of +1. Post amended with the HD included numbers. |

The Mafia with Trevor McDonald got 3.4m (3.7m with +1) - surprisingly low, given how well it did last week, and how good it was.
Amazingly, The Ark - despite being awful - actually grew its audience while on air. It started with 3.9m and ended with 4.7m. |
