That Walking Dead double bill that is on Spike TV this Friday is designed to be recorded, Can't be bothered to watch two hours of that in one go plus Gogglebox is on the same time.

I honestly thought Empire would have rated better than it did. I was expecting a 1m+ launch matching the likes of The Tomorrow People and The 100 when they previously launched on E4. They must be disappointed with the numbers.

Nobody ever talks about all the times the Marie Celeste was busy!

It'll probably be busy tomorrow when people say Car Share didn't get 6m! Don't forget a little programme called The Island on Channel 4. Car Share will be competing with that., plus many already watched Car Share on iPlayer.

I think it's sad that communal TV watching is declining. I love watching The Island with Bear Grylls for example, and then being able to talk about it in work the next day with other colleagues. A few of us watched and discussed Poldark as it aired too.

Not really a fan of a whole series being put on iPlayer first like Car Share and hope it doesn't become the norm. Why are we so impatient? It's creating an impatient society, where we want something and we want it now! It's the same with downloading something illegally and not being able to wait until the channel shows it.

I liked watching Broadchurch week by week, and the anticipation it created waiting for the next episode the following week. I enjoy stretching the enjoyment of my viewing experience, rather than having a viewing marathon and it's all over within a few hours.

Each to their own, I'm sure I am in the minority. I just don't completely buy into the modern methods of watching TV.”

I agree about your Broadchurch point - quite a few of the series I have enjoyed like Happy Valley/The Missing/Dr Who etc have been better for me because of the wait and anticipation between episodes. Anyway where do people find the time to watch an entire series in one session? It takes me weeks to get through stuff I have recorded.

Tomorrow People and The 100 are very different shows though - the kind of things that tend to do well here. While E4 has shown many glitzy, soapy US dramas in its time, the truth is that even stuff like The OC through to Revenge now has never done big business. Across the board for digital channels, sci-fi/fantasy/action/adventure shows (often from The CW) seem to perform better.

I thought Empire would have done more in the 700k range with +1 though. I think it'll be a bit of a disappointment for E4. Maybe it'll grow but its US growth relied on a lot of buzz and its status as something of a cultural phenomenon which is unlikely to be replicated here for a US show on E4.

I don't hold out massive hopes for Jane The Virgin tonight either. It has also been heavily promoted and perhaps the comedy angle will make it more on brand for E4, but I don't see it doing 1m+.

(By posting this late, I've left myself wide open to looking foolish when the overnights are posted just below me in a few hours time! )

I expected Empire to be in the 700k range. Possibly some of its potential audience already saw it already by downloading it. That leads us into Car Share. The BBC1 rating might be lower as some watched on iPlayer. Then again it might have acted as promotion.

We'll see in a few hours.

It started last week with 350,000.

Not great to be honest as it'll fall but not everything can work for E4.

Jane The Virgin was surprisingly low.

i wonder how the long EastEnders will eat into Corrie tomorrow? Will the 8.30pm corrie be beaten by Wallace and Gromit?

Does anyone have the the rating for the UTV Debate, both on UTV and also on ITV.

Also one for later, the rating for last night's BBC English Regions Debates?

So which of NCIS or NCIS NO on friday's aren't they going to show because BB is on, won't be pleased either way heh

Great start for Peter Kay's #CarShare - opening with 5.7m viewers on @BBCOne

Excellent for Car Share.

That's a great rating. Peter Kay is a draw. Do people know it's on tonight as well though?

Yes it will be interesting to see the rating for Gently, suspect it did reasonably well but if Car Share did more it will be a quite rare situation of appointment to view at 9.30 on a Wednesday evening I would imagine.

Let's hope that it holds up well again tonight.

I guess that means that ITV could be pretty horrific for their two comedies.

As expected, very good start for Car Share.

Both are gone in the final schedules, I'm sorry to report.

We still don't know how Gently and ITV's comedy hour did. I do feel sorry for The Delivery Man facing Car Share though.

Even Give a Pet a Home was down to 2.10m (exc. HD). I dread to think how low ITV was at 9pm.

Not too clever for C5 at 9pm either with Autopsy proving ever inconsistent and falling after a good start last week to score just 0.67m (3.1%). Also at 9pm, Nick and Margaret did 1.02m (4.7%) for BBC Two whilst C4's The Island continued with 2.14m (10%).

Some pretty bad ratings there apart from Car Share & glad The Island is doing OK as I like this .

Those crappy Nick & Margaret documentaries are usually on BBC1. I didn't see much publicity for this one. BBC2 is poor at the moment though with the dreadful Chefs On Trial dragging the channel down in primetime.

Good for Car Share in the circumstances of it being left on the shelf so long and then dumped on a Wednesday night in April.

Liked it but it's very low key and gently amusing rather than funny. With another dose tonight and Question Time as lead in I'd be surprised if it clears 4m tonight.

Beeb bosses clearly had no confidence in it.

I wonder what Kay expected from the scheduling when he signed up. Suspect midweek and political debate as lead in wouldn't have been...
