The Mafia with Trevor McDonald got 3.4m (3.7m with +1) - surprisinglow low, given how well it did last week, and how good it was.
Amazingly, The Ark - despite being awful - actually grew its audience while on air. It started with 3.9m and ended with 4.7m. |

It bombed - 500,000 (against Bargain Hunt's 2.1m). No uplift with +1 either.
A brave experiment that always looked doomed to failure. |

Morning Bushmills. I wouldn't have expected either of the above to be the case.

Desperately poor, but not exactly surprising.

Not helped by scheduling it in a school holiday week, either.

A shame The Mafia dropped. It was really good but I guess the drama competition might have dented it a bit. Also I wonder if some maybe thought it was just a one off?
Irritating to see The Ark do well. I had hoped it bombing could spell the end of religious nonsense in primetime but we'll probably get more of it now! |

Morning

I know he's made the headlines a few times, but I'm not convinced that many people would even have known what he looks like, so a bit of a random signing from ITV's point-of-view. |

You do wonder what they were thinking with The Arc but they sort of got away with it.

The Ark probably would have been a 9pm start on Easter Monday and get 5m had it not been for Code Of A Killer going there.

Indeed. If Code of A Killer bombs next week then BBC1 will look silly for running scared.

Thanks. Very nice uplift on last week.
They were plugging Wayward Pines a lot around it. Doesn't start until May but looks promising so one to watch out for when that starts. Is O'Brien even that well known outside of his radio show - which is on LBC that not everyone gets or would choose to seek out - and doing the odd newspaper review on Sky? I know he's made the headlines a few times, but I'm not convinced that many people would even have known what he looks like, so a bit of a random signing from ITV's point-of-view.

I dont really get BBCs Monday strategy. They seem to avoid going head to head with ITV dramas but then suddenly put SW against BC and do very well but now seem to be back to not using drama again against new ITV drama.

Isn't he presenting a show for ITV2 about it? I think he's meeting the leaders for an episode of Educating Joey Essex. A must-miss event if there ever was one.
There's no audience for dumbed down politics however and this programme with the professional idiot Essex will be lucky to scrape 200,000. Furthermore, whoever advised the leaders that appearing on said programme would help them reach a young audience of any real size or substance wants firing. |

Another 'Poliakoff' for BBC2.
Close To The Enemy, 6 parts (presumably 60min). http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...e-to-the-enemy |
