The Mafia with Trevor McDonald got 3.4m (3.7m with +1) - surprisinglow low, given how well it did last week, and how good it was.

Amazingly, The Ark - despite being awful - actually grew its audience while on air. It started with 3.9m and ended with 4.7m.
The Ark was of course up against the 2nd Corrie for its first 30 minutes.

Now that is a bloody miracle about The Ark! Not surprised about the Mafia doc as it faced a drama this week.

How did O'Brien do in daytime Bushmills?

Morning Bushmills. I wouldn't have expected either of the above to be the case.

Do you have anything for the finale of The Walking Dead on Fox please?

It bombed - 500,000 (against Bargain Hunt's 2.1m). No uplift with +1 either.

Desperately poor, but not exactly surprising.

A brave experiment that always looked doomed to failure.

Not helped by scheduling it in a school holiday week, either.

You do wonder what they were thinking with The Arc but they sort of got away with it.

That's wonderfully rubbish. Doing worse than Loose Women. ITV are trying to do something a bit different in daytime but it needs to connect with the audience. Watched a bit yesterday evening. It's the updated Kilroy/The Time The Place debating programme.

Yikes that's bad! A pity, I'd much rather that than the dreadful Loose Women. ITV will just be glad that it is only a 2 week run.

Yes, that probably didn't help, although with a rating that poor I think it would still have flopped in a school week. That rating would be dire in the Summer, let alone March!

A shame The Mafia dropped. It was really good but I guess the drama competition might have dented it a bit. Also I wonder if some maybe thought it was just a one off?

Irritating to see The Ark do well. I had hoped it bombing could spell the end of religious nonsense in primetime but we'll probably get more of it now!

Thanks. Very nice uplift on last week.

They were plugging Wayward Pines a lot around it. Doesn't start until May but looks promising so one to watch out for when that starts.

Not helped by scheduling it in a school holiday week, either.
Is O'Brien even that well known outside of his radio show - which is on LBC that not everyone gets or would choose to seek out - and doing the odd newspaper review on Sky?

I know he's made the headlines a few times, but I'm not convinced that many people would even have known what he looks like, so a bit of a random signing from ITV's point-of-view.

The Ark probably would have been a 9pm start on Easter Monday and get 5m had it not been for Code Of A Killer going there.

Indeed. If Code of A Killer bombs next week then BBC1 will look silly for running scared.

I dont really get BBCs Monday strategy. They seem to avoid going head to head with ITV dramas but then suddenly put SW against BC and do very well but now seem to be back to not using drama again against new ITV drama.

Isn't he presenting a show for ITV2 about it? I think he's meeting the leaders for an episode of Educating Joey Essex. A must-miss event if there ever was one.

Maybe they should have poached Nicky Campbell from the BBC?

I'm convinced they wanted to damage Silent Witness. They wanted a reason to rest it/bring it to end. Folks will disagree I know but this series won't enthuse those creative types in BBC drama. 2014 series was below par so perhaps they thought it was on New Tricks trajectory and wanted to burn it quickly and give better slots to new drama. As it turned out 2015 was much improved. Scripts but also production with less viewing in the gloom.

Perhaps ITV missed the fact that C4's Battle for Number 10 with Paxman won its slot amongst 16-34s last week.

There's no audience for dumbed down politics however and this programme with the professional idiot Essex will be lucky to scrape 200,000.

Furthermore, whoever advised the leaders that appearing on said programme would help them reach a young audience of any real size or substance wants firing.

Another 'Poliakoff' for BBC2.

Close To The Enemy, 6 parts (presumably 60min).
