Coronation Street 6.17m (33.5%) 8.30pm 5.72m (29.0%)
Eastenders 5.71m (30.0%) Emmerdale 5.19m (30.8%) There is no sign of Corrie getting better, and the week of BGT LIVE week of episodes are the same old, same old. Its likely that Corrie will end up pulling down the rating for BGT Results after and showing why this scheduling does not work now that Corrie is so weak. |

Awful. And yet Blackburn is still in his position.

Its likely that Corrie will end up pulling down the rating for BGT Results after and showing why this scheduling does not work now that Corrie is so weak. Unfortunately as soon as ITV realise that Corrie could be toppled as top soap , Eastenders gets hit by Emmerdale clashes which then slows momentum. |

I thought last night's episode was being ramped up as being a massive episode for EastEnders, hence why it was 35 mins long. There was a lot of excitement in the soaps forum. The ratings look no different than usual.

It also looks like the removal of the omnibus hasn't affected the ratings for the Friday episode either. There has been speculation on here that the lower ratings were down to some viewers being attributed to the repeat showing.

I can still recall quite vividly for the first royal baby BBC One leaving the news coverage and going to a pre recorded edition of The One Show whereas ITV stuck with the view of the hospital and delayed ED. Everyone watched ITV despite the BBC returning just in time to see Prince George. The BBC aren't perfect either.

I'd argue that Corrie is actually better than EE at the moment. Corrie is improving and the week of BGT live episodes are not same old, same old. This won't be like the mini-bus crash as I'm led to believe that characters will be killed off in this upcoming fire and there are lots of potential storylines coming off the back of it. This constant Blackburn bashing is getting a bit repetitive now isn't it? Corrie is still the top soap and I expect its lead over EE to increase in the coming months with the fire, Deirdre's death, Gandy reveal, live episode, Kylie's return, and Carla's exit.

They didn't ramp EastEnders up on TV and it was people on the show tweeting about the episode. That means nothing, trailers work. Last minute twists don't boost ratings, trailers promoting an episode boost ratings.
There was no trailer or guest appearances on chat shows from Jessie Wallace. It's a shame they didn't do more than usual to promote it, really, as it was a pivotal episode for Kat and fantastic. Although bar the blip of the past couple of months, EE has been of a generally high standard under DTC so it was nothing out of the ordinary in that sense. I wouldn't say it didn't dent the 8.30 Corrie either, which was only a tiny bit ahead with a lower share. Quote:

Corrie's lead over EE isn't any bigger than it has been for months and months. |

EastEnders had a chance to win back some viewers after Live Week and they didn't manage it. From what I've read Corrie has one or two things that will boost ratings. The fire and Deirdre's funeral most likely will. Plus they have BGT to boost them. Does EastEnders have enough to get some casual fans? I'm not so sure plus there is nothing in the schedule to boost it. Surprise twists Are fun but they don't bring extra viewers in unless they're returns of big characters, even then the boost doesn't last if the stories aren't there.

Why does GMB need to be on Saturday just so they can broadcast a report on Kate giving birth? Are they going to give a running commentary of how she's having it?
Kate's had the baby and her 2nd one. Nothing important enough for ITV to put GMB on this morning. Let's not forget weekends Breakfast has its lowest ratings. Therefore GMB would be around 150K, not enough viewers to be worth broadcasting on Saturday. Again its important to remember that the BBC is being funded by the public, no other channel has this privilege. |

Slow Train Through Africa with Griff Rhys Jones 2.2m last night. More proof of just how wrong this programme is for this slot.
I would have had it on either Wednesday at 8pm, or Sunday at 8pm |

I would have had it on either Wednesday at 8pm, or Sunday at 8pm 1) If ITV couldn't even manage to play the episodes in the right order, expecting thought to go into the scheduling is a bit much. 2) Griff Rhys Jones should keep his privileged gob shut when it comes to the mansion tax. |

Regards Pearl There is only a small gap between it and EE... it amuses me that such a small difference can factor into whether someone considers a figure good or bad. ![]() 6.1m and 5.7m isn't that great for Corrie broadly speaking. The equivalent episodes last year got 7.1m (37%) and 6.5m (30.2%) and the show was worse then than it is now. EE would've been higher if the BBC promoted it with a trailer. Like cylon I have no idea why they didn't. The show aside from a recent blip is generally of a high standard but last night's episode was pivotal for one of the show's iconic characters, set on location, and featured a twist. I would love to know their logic when it comes to deciding which episodes to trail, when ITV were endlessly trailing average episodes of Corrie not that long ago. Quote:
Awful number for the soaps. They are on too often now and people get fed up of them .

Have I Got News For You tops Friday's ratings with 4.07 million
Have I Got News for You was Friday's (May 1) highest-rated show outside of soaps. Hosted by Alexander Armstrong, the topical panel show attracted an average audience of 4.07 million (19.8%) from 9pm. BBC One's evening began with 3.24 (19.1%) for The One Show at 7pm, followed by 3.11 million (16.9%) for A Question of Sport at 7.30pm. A repeat showing of Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out filled the void left by Masterchef at 8.35pm, and managed to secure an average audience of 2.12 million (10.9%). Mrs. Brown's Boys entertained 2.88 million (14.4%) at 9.30pm, while The Graham Norton Show secured ratings of 2.72 million (23.1%) at 10.40pm. Over on ITV, Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis was seen by 2.36 million (12.5%) at 8pm, while Slow Train Through Africa with Griff Rhys Jones entertained 2.05 million (10.2%) at 9pm. BBC Two's evening was dominated by Live Snooker: The World Championship coverage from 6.30pm until 9pm. The event drew an average audience of 1.14 million (6.4%) and peaked with 1.44 million on two separate occasions. BBC Two's evening continued with 1.63 million (8.1%) for The Natural World at 8pm, followed by 1.09 million (6.3%) for The Clare Balding Show. Gogglebox attracted an average audience of 2.99 million (14.8%) on Channel 4 at 9pm, while a further 485k (3.1%) watched on Channel 4+1. It was sandwiched between Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Alan Carr: Chatty Man, which drew respective audiences of 700k (3.6%) and 1.43 million (9%). Secrets of Great British Castles was seen by an increased audience of 889k (4.6%) at 8pm on Channel 5. It was followed by 846k (4.2%) for NCIS: New Orleans at 9pm and 891k (5.5%) for NCIS at 10pm. With an audience of 622k (3.2%) from 8pm on ITV3, Midsomer Murders was among the most popular multichannel shows. |

Weren't you the one who used to post ridiculous ratings estimates? under your previous judgement 6.1m would not be a "fantastic" figure.

The ITV ones are on too much, but the no. of episodes hasn't increased for years so I don't know whether it is the reason behind the sudden drop. You always pop up when . When Ever someone mentions eastenders. Corrie is still sometimes a million ahead of bartenders in ofificials. Also did you see the months average for eastenders a few pages back !!Corrie also seems to be improving where is . Eastenders seems abit bland atm, I can't put my finger on it, also the Carter overload is clearly pissing people off. I loved them at first, they were a nice happy family but now there just a nuisance. |

Some more pointless (IMO) News Specials on both BBC and ITV at the moment to show Prince William leaving the hospital. EPG currently says ITV are on the air until 5:30! Surely not true?
