Yes the twist was only hyped up on Twitter by the media and production personnel shortly before the episode's broadcast and that isn't going to increase ratings. An episode generating a lot of discussion on the soap forum isn't a barometer of higher ratings either.
There was no trailer or guest appearances on chat shows from Jessie Wallace. It's a shame they didn't do more than usual to promote it, really, as it was a pivotal episode for Kat and fantastic. Although bar the blip of the past couple of months, EE has been of a generally high standard under DTC so it was nothing out of the ordinary in that sense.
I wouldn't say it didn't dent the 8.30 Corrie either, which was only a tiny bit ahead with a lower share.

This constant Blackburn bashing is getting a bit repetitive now isn't it? Corrie is still the top soap and I expect its lead over EE to increase in the coming months with the fire, Deirdre's death, Gandy reveal, live episode, Kylie's return, and Carla's exit.”
I could be wrong but didn't you say around the time of the live week that you don't usually watch EE? So how would you know whether Corrie is better than it? EE hasn't had some massive dip in quality, it's one storyline going round in circles that people are fed up of (Dean/Linda), but that didn't feature in last night's fantastic episode.
Corrie's lead over EE isn't any bigger than it has been for months and months.
