If I worked in advertising, I would be looking to do more business with Channel 4 and less with ITV. I think they are delivering more consistently, and the right kind of viewer as well. Better value at this moment in time.”

right kind of viewer for what? if you selling soap powder or shampoo you might as well be on the channel that delivers 6m most days (corro) and 10m every week (BGT) coupled with lesser volume elsewhere. c4 does deliver a much more upmarket audience, but the more upmarket audience the less likely you are to be effected by advertising anyway. if you are advertising you want to be on itv for volume and sky for cheaper upmarket audience. c4 offers nothing different.

The Island with Bear Grylls recommissioned for third series

Applause Store suggests ITV2 are launching Love Island on Monday 1st June. Makes sense as they'll be able to promote it during BGT week.

In the first week there's a live show on the Sunday and then they'll be on Thursdays weekly after that. I assume it'll just be regular highlights shows on the other nights.

Is that including +1, Dancc?

Surly depends on the quality of the advert?

Not sure if it's been answered or not but can anybody explain why BBC One are running a repeat of The Vicar Of Dibley in the 8.30pm slot? Seems odd scheduling for a 20+ year old episode of a show that ended 9 years ago lol

At least it's better than its rival showing You've Been Framed.

Neither to be perfectly honest, but if I had to choose it would be You've Been Framed. Never seen the Vicar Of Dibley.

It's unusual ITV are relaunching a show that was widely criticised for being one of the worst of the last decade, but most people will probably have forgotten the original version, the core audience for LI are probably too young to remember the first two series, and also ITV aren't sticking celebs on Fiji for weeks on end and sticking LI on their main channel. I think this will do OK on ITV 2 as it is a new take on a much derided format and could get 500,000 a night watching.
Me, defending a show I used to bring up regularly to show all that went wrong with ITV in the noughties, now defending a rejigged format of something that could have worked OK away from ITV 1. After all, it's all about ratings.
However, should it do OK, might it harm BB if it is shown opposite. Checking through the ratings, BB has been down to 1.2 million and could go lower if LI takes off on ITV 2. I'm still of the belief Viacom should have kept CBB, which is a much bigger show, and pensioned off BB.

And it's in 4:3!! I think I saw a dinosaur wandering around in the back of frame, it's that old!

By the same logic, you can't be defending ITV's figures at the moment. Compared to even 12 months ago, their entire schedule is falling down like a stack of cards at the moment. In what world is it acceptable for the leading commercial channel to be averaging under 2 million for new programming?

Just seen that this year's BGT deliberation airs on a Saturday!
Which not only means we have another day until the semis (which start on Monday) and therefore lose momentum, but we also clash with Eurovision! If there's one year it makes sense to air on Sunday, it's this one!

It's always intended to air on Saturdays, it has only been moved to Sundays in the past because of the Champions League Final.

It'll take a hit against Eurovision but in the past couple of years the Sunday move seems to have hurt it a little bit anyway. I can't see it doing much worse (if at all) than the 8.4m it got last year even against Eurovision. I'd imagine it'll beat Eurovision as well (head to head at least).

It's true that the episode 7 figures have plummeted since they started airing it on Sunday - maybe we'll get to 11m this year then! I of course hope BGT wins but I just hate clashes! I guess I'm just a man of tradition!

I agree. Its not just that ITV are having programs c.2m but they are having new programs c.2m and several a day and several days a week. Its appalling and I still have not really seen a plausible explanation as to why. We keep being told they have not cut their program budgets so why is it happening?

Haha. Controversial view no doubt, but I'm not sure there is a place for 4:3 programmes in the middle of prime time on BBC1. They are ok on BBC2 or on digital channels that specialise in showing classic programmes, but they look really old and out of place on BBC1. Same would apply to ITV as well.

Maybe they should have repeated My Family instead

No sign of it at all in ITV2's provisional schedules for that week and no TBAs either.

And the div that is Adam Crozier can't blame BBC copycat programmes when ITV is losing out to Channel 4 and BBC2 some nights in the ratings.
