Well yes, but I meant the Tory party as a whole. There are 331 of them(presumably some of them will have less destructive views on the BBC) and from a different angle pressure from within has already thwarted immediate action on the Human Rights Act.

Ch5 at this current moment is in major "grab people's attention" mode regarding Big Brother.

News in a few hours ago that a HM was kicked out of the house for inappropriate behaviour (exposing himself to someone who didn't want him to). Then tomorrow's eviction massacre show has been extended to a 2 hour show and will run from 9pm-11pm which will have 4 house mates leave and 4 new ones introduced.

The extension may benefit them because that is an entire hour now where they can "try" and grab the post BGT audience. So it will have no competition from 10pm-11pm.

The ratings may see a small rise tonight due to that, maybe to 1.10m. A lot of talk online of the ejection. Seems like Ch5 are desperate to avoid continuing to go under 1m.

BBC2 look to be taking their crown with this show!

The next two nights alone Five are serving up quality programmes like World War II in Colour, The Hotel Inspector Abroad, Cricket on Five and The Bible Prediction. Hardly shameful telly hell. These are excellent programmes with high production values that would stand up on any channel.

If any of the main channels is suffering from quality control issues at the moment it's probably C4 and that's reflected in the fact it's prompting a lot of criticism on the Broadcasting subforum for some of its output in the last few weeks (e.g. High Class Hookers). Although their ratings happen to be on the rise, so what does that tell you?

CSI had a good run but it's the right time to end it and it's certainly not irreplaceable. In case you've been living under a rock, C5 was out in LA last week with all the other major broadcasters looking to find the next CSI and the word on the street is that once again they intend to make a splash as they did last year with Gotham.

Hitler, Polizzi's past-it and rigidly formulaic show, the world's most boring game and some god-bothering stuff. They have a shark programme on tonight as well which takes me right back to the bad old days of Hitler, sharks and tits. I see you left out BB for obvious reasons.



Gotham is dull as dishwater and has no future unless they jump-forward ten years and get some Batman action in it. Five has a lousy record at picking US shows so I don't know why you're placing faith in them selecting a hit this time around.

Best episode of the week by a mile from Corrie. I was actually on the edge of my seat tonight. Still some very dodgy acting and writing going on at times though.

Parts of it were complete nonsense. The stuff on the balcony. I see now why people say Blackburn out. Should do well tonight though.

I agree, it felt like they was dragging out the balcony scene just to get their money's worth from the fire.

There also doesn't appear to be anyone else living in those flats or surround houses.

A weak episode, good stunt but the rest was average. I can see why fans have complained about the quality of the show. H Of De Vil I take it all back! I get it now.

Ratings will need to tank before anything changes though. That's what happened with EastEnders. And EastEnders us a bit hit and miss at the moment too.

Just a quick one while we're on the subject of Corrie - BBC Midlands News had a feature on the Corrie set tonight (because of figh fighters were from Staffordshire...) but my point is they credited the pictures as 'Granada TV'.

Surely that's not credible these days? Can they get away with that?

They seem to be getting a bit above themselves with their new set.

Though you can see from the scope of the fire/explosion why local residents dialled 999 thinking there had been a real disaster on the night they filmed the stunt.

Mind you it is quite amusing that for years in Quay Street and even today at the Quays they have added fake tram sound effects as real trams didn't actually go near that part of the city where Granada was located.

But now ITV are protesting against the building of a real tram line (going to the Trafford Centre) as that will happen to pass right next to the new Corrie set.

They are afraid that the trams will interfere with filming by making real (not fake) horn noises!

Here's a rating I just spotted.

New show Wayward Pines has an official rating of 144k (inc +1: 194k) for it's first episode.

That is beyond disappointing for FOX's new big show. Such a shame. It's really rather good IMO.

With regards to Corrie this week. I'm surprised people were expecting 9m this week. It was never going to shoot up that much from a relatively low base and in it's current state.

The most peculiar thing for me this week has been the strange absence of Tony pretty much all week after the affair was revealed on Monday (he's only appeared in the Tuesday episode so far).

I wonder How ITV would feel if the home nations boycotted the 2018 world cup and no qualifies were held from next September. Would they be entitled to compensation. Would they show the tournament even if few European countries are they.

I'm wondering if the actor was unavailable for some reason. At least I'm hoping that the Liz smashing up plates scenes were last minute filler as they were dreadful.
