I think it will be closer to 11m. Last year it pulled in 10.8m on Saturday, so it should be capable of 10.5m+ tonight

I wonder why C4 has decided to premiere Shutter Island opposite BGT. Very good flick IMHO and might underperform there through no fault of its own.

Still, at least there *is* an alternative for those that want it. BBC Two should hold up well too. You'd have to be massively fearful for poor old Jonathan Strange though, while C5 has sensibly moved BB to 10pm which is not the norm on a Sunday.

Yes, it was Denmark! A forgettable match; in fact the only thing about Euro 92 that lives long in the memory was "Brolin.........Dahlin.........Brolin.....brilliant!"

DSRPG Prediction for the final of Britain's Got Talent (exc. +1): 10.1m

On the plus side for Britain's Got Talent tonight, not brilliant weather across the country and it's a Sunday so more people should be at home preparing for the week ahead. There are no distractions either, such as Eurovision or the FA Cup final.

On the flip side it has an awful lead in and it's going to have tougher opposition from Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow and Shutter Island.

At least BBC One hasn't caved in and has two popular alternatives for the more sober viewer, and Channel 4 has Shutter Island. I know BGT will win its slot, but about 4.5 million anti viewers will be watching BBC One.

There's a rebrand coming up later in the year and the channel will begin its push into homegrown comedy, from there C5 under Viacom will begin to take shape.

We're also going to see a lot more of the channels working together, especially when C5 moves into the main Viacom headquarters in Camden. At the moment they are still working from the Northern & Shell premises, which cannot be ideal.

This for me is still a transitional phase and onscreen you shouldn't expect to have seen too many changes just yet.

But two things that have very much caught the eye so far and suggest Viacom will do things differently:
* The amount of money they spent on US acquisition Gotham. Admittedly it didn't pay off, but it shows they are willing to invest heavily in the right content.
* Returning football to the channel by securing the Football League highlights, and filling what's been for a long time a difficult slot for most of the year.”

The acquisition wasn't finalised until October and they spent time restructuring their commissioning process, I imagine most of the changes won't be seen until later this year and into 2016,

So the people who watch Antiques Roadshow and countryfile tonight are anti BGT viewers?

True, but they were always going to be there. Norrell though, already struggling, could be squashed embarrassingly.

Obviously some people will switch to BGT tonight, but there are several million who are big fans of AR. It's hard not see why, it's a sedate yet interesting show and has been around since the seventies. As I get older, I really do enjoy the BBC's antique shows and really like Antiques Roadtrip.

Should be a good final. I really hope a singer doesn't win especially the dreary Callum.
He's just another XF style singer who will end up the same way as all other male winners.
Nowhere in a few years time.
SC has already stated he wants him to win so will get a very favourable place in the line-up.
Let's hope the British public see sense.

I think I'm becoming a stereotype of an over 45 viewer, hate reality shows, Cowell, daytime on ITV and think football isn't the game it was when I was younger. Antique shows, documentaries, news, old films and repeats of old sitcomes seem to make up most of my viewing.

I guess if its a singer from BGT who sells, its yet another one in the eye for The Voice.

I think the scheduling will depend on whether Martin Clunes is prepared to film another series in 2017, though. He really calls the shots with Doc Martin. If it has a future, they might schedule it carefully again this autumn, but if this year's series is the last, they might be prepared to fling it on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and hope for the best.”

They could do what they have done in previous years and start the series in late July/August in the 9pm slot, itv don't usually start autumn until September apart from Fix Factor.

i think you are right. BBC1 will hold up well until 9pm, this is when BGT will gain a lot of ground.

Also the launch of Spike which has Lip Sync Battle and Breaking Bad.

I work mostly with people over 40 and we seem to like and dislike the same sort of television programmes. No one ever mentions BB, except on the lines of is that rubbish still on, channels like MTV and ITV 2 never seem to be mentioned, and we all seem to rush home to watch Allo Allo and Just Good Friends.
However, for all we dislike reality shows and regard them as forgettable, throwaway programmes, from a business point of view they make sense for channels like MTV or Channel 5 as many are quite cheap to make, don't rely on actors to be paid and should they fail or be cancelled, unlike a drama that fails, there isn't the potential loss on repeat fees or DVD sales that a flop drama has.
Incidentally, did BB have DVDs of highlights in its early years?

Talking of Spike, does anyone have any clue how the Boxing did for them last night ? First live domestic fight shown on the channel.

Most BGT winners have had good success so don't really see that at all.

With the rugby taking up slots something might have to give. It probably depends on whether Jekyll & Hyde is for 9pm or not as if not that frees up some slots.”

Could they not bring some pf that drama forward to the summer? Because I can't recall off the top of my head any ITV dramas lined up for this summer. Is the cupboard bare?
