Pretty good for Corrie. Unusual for the 8:30pm episode to be the higher of the two. Well deserved too as they were strong episodes. The teenage pregnancy storyline was widely criticised when it was announced but they pulled it off well in the end. The young actress did brilliantly.

I agree, the ending of the Wednesday's episode was pretty poor, infact it was dreadful, however fair do's to the actress playing Faye, she really pulled it out the bag on Friday. Superb. I know Corrie have had a rough ride recently from both fans and critics and heavely criticised from the still birth charity, Decent figures for the Northern Soap.

EastEnders, although the figures and share were disappointing had an outstanding episode, only spoilt by the carter scenes at the end. Shane and Jessie were superb, it was very raw. Contiuning drama at its very best. It is rare that both CS and EE have a strong episode on the same night.

Eek! There was always the potential for it to post an absolute stinker of a rating I suppose so I'm not massively surprised.

Terrible for a Bank Holiday, surely a record low for BBC One on such a day.”

Perhaps showing an itv2 style show on their flagship channel, getting this rating is what they deserve? Are alot of BBC viewers anti Europe, UKIP supporters? (only joking, they would be more like channel 5 viewers) get ready to be tongue lashed!!!!!

The shares for the soaps are awful. The second Coronation Street had competition in MasterChef as an excuse but I'm not sure about the others.”

I think many will have taken advantage of the Easter break, going to Skeggy in their caravans.

A spin off EastEnders series with Kat & Alfie. If people don't want to watch them in EastEnders why do the BBC think people will want to watch a series featuring them?

They are popular characters no doubt about it. I think The clash Thursday hurt it and of course Younger viewers might have been out on Good Friday. Less people worked yesterday so it was pretty much just like a Saturday. Good Friday last year (I am aware it was later in April) Rated fairly low for the Murder of Lucy but it picked up by Easter Monday. Next week is a very strong week with Timothy West(Stan) exit, The death of Jim Branning (John Bardon passed away last year) Plus the continuing Part from last night.
No clashes will help too.

No News Update last night and EastEnders still managed to start at 19:57 and end at 20:25. TV as a whole was crap yesterday.
The usual stuff just some in different time slots.

they might actually be happy in Ireland

Hope Thunderbirds does well tonight, but even with all the promotion I dont see it doing much more than 3 million. ITV seems a bit confused with this show, on the one hands its ditching it in kids TV hours, but on the other hand its giving it the full promotion treatment like it was any other Saturday night show. Radio 2 has had plenty of interviews about it.

Meanwhile the audience (see also EastEnders) is anywhere but in front of its TV, as the nation celebrates chocolate eggs for 4 days. Even those are home will be tempted by the something of the Guardians (but not of the Galaxy) movie on BBC 1 at the same time.

Confusing promotion, scheduling, and the date is all wrong, unless the first episode has a story about Chocolate eggs.

I think when Kat & Alfie got back together in 2013 they could pop a rating. Then they split them up again and I can't think of any major episode with them getting ratings up. Not the fire, not this week on Monday.

It seems a year too late for this idea.

Understandable that they had to get a mix of countries and eras, but if they had been making the show for an exclusively UK audience they would've had a very different line-up.”

My thoughts entirely. As a Eurovision fan, I loved it, but starting the show with an unknown from Denmark would have put casual UK viewers off.

Maybe we should see it as an "import" which failed to find an audience, rather than a jewel in the BBC's Easter crown? Yes, it was made by the BBC, but for an EBU audience and the Beeb probably paid very little to make it, if anything at all.

EE and Emmerdale's shares are poor as are the raw numbers.

But I would argue Corrie did pretty well last night all things considered. The shares are okay as are the numbers - especially the second episode which you've oddly pointed out its apparent low share due to MC - yet that second episode was Corrie's highest rating 20.30 Friday episode since January - take into account the clock change and the fact it was Good Friday, I personally was expecting much lower especially given how that episode has rated recently.

DS has incorrectly stated it's was the highest for a month - but in fact it is the highest for just over 2-months. The last time it was higher was on Friday 30th January when the second episode averaged 7.4m.

Hmmm, that's the second time it's appeared in the programme information. I wouldn't be surprised if it disappears again.

Judging by last night's Coronation St figures, I think EastEnders and Emmerdale were both about 0.5m behind where they should have been.

Ratings highlight of the week has to be The Leaders Debate. This has been a rare triumph for ITV, an intelligent programme that rated as well as Coronation St, and would have attracted millions of viewers who normally avoid ITV.

Many EastEnders viewers will be happy Kat & Alfie are in Ireland.. Means their circular break up/get together/break up/get together story won't clog up the show.

I hope Thundebirds does well and maybe ITV will repeat the other episodes at 5pm. We need something to breakthrough the monotony of You've Been Framed repeats.

Will ITV ever ditch YBF? It's just not funny and its ratings are minimal. Really it should have gone when the live show was finished.
As for Thunderbirds, a brave try for ITV at something new, but I still prefer the sixties version.
