Presumably because of the golf - they can move the 6 pm news to BBC2 but they can't move the news in the English regions, there's a whole thread about this running elsewhere.

ITV have released a new, longer trailer for Jekyll & Hyde:

http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press...ns-jekyll-hyde

Looks very good. Thoughts on how this could rate? I think it could launch pretty high if given the right slot, although if it does find itself on Saturdays against Strictly that will put a ceiling on how well it could do.

In those days the final day was a Saturday. It didn't become a Sunday until 1980.

This would mean the final day sharing time with whatever else was on Grandstand. Seems even then it was not the 'favoured' sport; for example in 1968 it had to share with racing, athletics, cricket and moto-cross whilst on BBC2 you could watch uninterrupted coverage of the finals of the Henley Regatta.

The good old days of Grandstand, where in the eighties I even recall women's judo and badminton appearing.

It's coming back then. This series was a bit daft in places but I liked the change to a more regular linear format, because the previous two series IIRC centred on one character per episode and was a bit more difficult to follow.

When I first saw the teaser trailer I was really interested, but there is something about the longer trailer which has left me cold. I can't put my finger on it. I know that I will hopefully enjoy watching it when it does eventually start.

I think that Monday evenings at 9pm would be a better slot. If ITV go for a Saturday evening, it is going to have to contend with either Strictly or Doctor Who. If it goes for a 9pm slot on a Saturday that wouldn't help it at all - little competition but a dwindling post LE audience.

If it is 10 episodes it is going to run headlong into I'm a Celebrity. The only way that it will fit is for an opener starting on August Bank Holiday week(end)

Thanks dullagj2. A few from the Broadcast app:

BBC Two
23:00 - Family Guy (r): 0.72m (7.0%)*

Channel 4 (exc +1)
22:05 - 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (r): 0.64m (4.0%)

Channel 5 (exc +1)
19:00 - Cricket on 5: 0.52m (2.9%)

BBC Three
22:35 - Live at the Apollo (r): 0.35m (2.8%)

* the third episode of the night, apparently the third-highest rating show of the night and outrating both the new episode at 22:15 and the first repeat at 22:35, as per the Broadcast app. Most peculiar, and something similar happened last week. The officials for week ending 12 July don't throw light on it as BBC Two's top 10 and top 30 programmes are not shown on BARB this week.

You'd think it would be a mistake, but look how the audience for Family Guy on BBC Three jumps later in the night, taken from the roundup above:

23:20 - Family Guy: 492k (6.1%)
23:45 - Family Guy: 574k (8.8%)

The problem is the local news. BBC1 has 17 variations. There are only 4 BBC2 variations so local news can't switch to BBC2. This wasn't a problem I'm the analogue era.

That's technology for you!

Not at all. I am sure the viewers are capable of using a remote, it is a good time at 7pm to switch channels, The open is hardly a huge pull ratings wise, not like having Murray at Wimbledon, so the BBC will want to leave their schedule intact from 8.pm on their flag ship channel.
