The 1.8m reported for last night also includes +1.

Looks like 5's cricket, being 1.5m or so above slot average, dented the first Emmerdale?

In all seriousness, very strong period of ratings for C5 and not just benefits related programmes either. Ben Fogle's programme always had the potential to be a big hit so I'm not surprised it's finally getting those kind of figures, more surprised that it's taken this long but it was scheduled perfectly this series and took advantage of some low rated opposition on BBC One and ITV. I think Lip Sync Battle is a good commission IF they attract the right talent - Frow says they will aim to do so but the intent is one thing and delivering on that is another - and also if it opens more doors for them in entertainment, then great (he also said he isn't looking to commission any further entertainment until figures are through for LSB, so quite a lot of pressure on it to do well if people want C5 to be more entertainment focussed).”

What's promising for Channel 5 is that they are getting strong ratings for factual and it's for new programming that has nothing to do with benefits. Ben Fogle's ratings really impressed me. Having seen Lip Sync Battle it can work and looks perfect for the young demos. They need be serious and attract top talent, if they do it on the cheap it will fail.

Regular Big Brother didn't do that well this year I thought. Was it scheduling, contestants, both or something else?

Especially as EE has been dire this week.

While ED has seen a boost, I still think they should've held these episodes back until later in the year where 8m might've been achievable. And I still expected at least one episode this week to breach 7m.

Spend a fair few pounds and get the figures which Emmerdale have or spend nothing extra and do an Eastenders during the summer = fairly similar ratings.

ITV shouldn't treat Emmerdale as a second class soap. Pride of place in the autumn schedules would have been better.

Just over 2m for Flockstars last night.

Dreadful numbers for Freeze Out, but weirdly, most of daytime was heavily down yesterday.

Was it fine weather everywhere?

And also, continuing the Safe Word discussion - just 180K viewers last night. Safe Word is looking decidely unsafe right now.

Weather was bleak in the morning here but brightened up in the afternoon. How low were the numbers?

Very poor for Safe Word.

The context of the Katie H show is that her first TLC series got 250K.

This one flops with 68K.

I always thought a studio based rant-y show was totally wrong for TLC. But what do I know? (More than TLC, as it turns out)

Welcome back Dancc

Your departure was like an episode of Eastenders. You left in a black cab and returned a few weeks later. Were you skulking around in the shadows, watching and waiting ?

Not so sure about that - just recently a certain poster on here penned a poem about the thread going downhill/not the same and how he was "outta here" - only to return... 58 minutes later - or our other poster who (last year) announced he was leaving the thread - twice... and returned - twice! Who needs drama on tv when you've got it in spades on here?! ps welcome back anyway.

Lip Sync Battle has potential to be a hit and it doesn't necessarily need A Listers but I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen Merchant and perhaps Emily Blunt are approached to do an episode. Tailoring it for a UK audience can easily work, you could have a This Morning episode with Holly vs Phil for example I doubt they'll be going for Z listers, it'll be people who normally appear on panel shows and higher

Very strong string of ratings for C5 all week. It kind of makes BB look very bad in comparison as it could only muster 1.2m nightly.

It's doing well not just with Benefits progs now, but Ben Fogle and the cricket. C5 will be proud, but will this look bad on CBB if it struggles to get above 1.5m? I think so.

CBB will need to average am overnight in the high 1s to be seen as a success after the string of great C5 ratings.

Great figure for the highlights but underwhelming for the live coverage, considering the circumstances.

Monday and Tuesdays episodes were good but last night was the weakest in a while.

There is a lot of big things coming up and some huge stories in the Autumn and Winter.
Kathy's fully comeback episode is different and not what I was expecting at all.

I think Emmerdale will do well tonight but I expect it will start to be rating as it was before The Disaster stuff before next week is out.

I thought the stunt was terrible. It looked cheap and the graphics looked very PlayStation 2 (Yes it's a soap but there has been better stunts from other soaps and Emmerdale at a cheaper price) I really enjoyed Wednesdays episode and tonight's has been good so far.

I have no words for tonight's ED . The weirdest episode I've ever seen. Sums up a crazy week. Decent +1 rating I suspect.

What an amazing episode of Emmerdale. It really deserves to beat Coronation Street, but it obviously won't.

I felt like I was watching an episode of Sunset Beach. Very weird but very moving indeed.

I just don't understand why Corrie did so well on Monday. It unequivocally does not deserve this - Emmerdale should be the soap to receive the biggest boost.

It seems that Corrie has one of the biggest default audiences - watching despite such a poor state.

Emmerdale has been fantastic this week - the writing so much better than Corrie's, and you can see how weak the Fire week was in comparison to Emmerdale's excellent week of drama.

Is it compulsory that when one soap is complemented another one has to be criticised?

Of course it is, everything here is something versus something.

Emmerdale got good ratinngs across the week, shame for them that it's not an Autumn storyline. And compared to Corrie, ITV treats it how Judy Murray treats her other son. Decent ratings, better than Corrie's fire week but Corrie has that loyal audience.
