Is it compulsory that when one soap is complemented another one has to be criticised?

Of course it is, everything here is something versus something.
Like you versus every single uncomplimentary ITV comment Andy?

I have been criticizing Corrie for weeks, I haven't just started. I watched Emmerdale this week and could see how so much better than my preferred soap it was.

If Corrie was any good it wouldn't need to be criticized.

My opinion on Corrie: Yes it does have a very loyal default audience. I know because I am part of that audience. I've never considered not watching it regardless of how bad it gets.

However I still find the show relatively easy to watch when it isn't trying too hard for contrived drama.

As for ED, this week we learned that it is possible to execute a character driven stunt. Simply superb. So many emotional scenes, shocks, and drama. The stunt effects are nowhere near the best moments of the week and that is a good thing. The character interactions and writing was of such a high standard. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty close. Tonight's episode was unbelievable. Perfect conclusion to the week.
