ED was fantastic again tonight. How it's been snubbed at the BAFTAs in favour of Hollyoaks and Corrie I don't know. Natalie Anderson for Best Actress at the soap awards please. And some good ratings hopefully

Why on earth have they given away half the plot in the synopsis? Is that ITV's new tactic a la Corrie practically releasing scene-by-scene breakdowns in advance. At this rate the trailers will become entire episodes minus commercials in between!

And to be honest, Prey was so gripping I forgot all about it until halfway through reading that article despite watching all three episodes of season 1. I don't think 'no-nonsense, hard-working cop' Reinhardt was particularly memorable or interesting enough to base the format of a multi-series run around either. DCI Tennison she ain't.

Speaking of Tennison, I wonder if ITV will show the prequel that Lynda LaPlante is working on? Given the success of Endeavour and the fact they own the TV rights to Prime Suspect and Tennison, I would think they'll at least commit to a pilot.

Ooh thanks for posting, wasn't aware of any planned prequel! Just googled it. Seems to have been no news since mid-last year. I do hope it gets a commission, La Plante devised a fantastically compelling lead character in good old Jane Tennison. Dame Helen's marvellous portrayal would be tough to compete with, mind.

The novel is out in September so I assume the TV adaptation will be 2016 because that's the 25th anniversary of the first Prime Suspect so it wouldn't be surprise me if La Plante already has the script written and just waiting for approval from ITV. Given how well Shaun Evans does as Morse in Endeavour, I trust they can find someone equally as good for Jane Tennison.

So ITV have commissioned a second series of Bear Grylls: Mission Survive!? Perhaps next series they might schedule it in a more appropriate slot, than just flinging it out anywhere.

Definitely filmed mid to late 2014 - they were asking for place suggestions for Countryfile then. They probably did want to do another series as the first one did pretty well but it's not like Matt Baker had the free time anymore with One Show filming, and Julia Bradbury had a child then left the BBC...

Guess it took them a while to decide on a presenting team they thought would work

Not sure what happened on Wednesday but that's a lot more like it.

What was on ITV at 9pm as it appears to have tanked badly?

Whoever at ITV came up with that Ice Rink On The Estate title needs shooting. The programme's stars were Torville & Dean ffs.

If they shot everybody who produces a doc that gets less than 2m ratings there would be nobody left.
