Thanks-much prefer to see the ex +1 figures.

Tremendous stuff from BGT -it takes a lot to pull that kind of audience at any time of the year and it continues to do this in the newly released Springtime. Ok for NW-though its far from accepted and next week will be important for it. Play to the Whistle not looking good but BBC1(aside from the rump loyal Casualty audience) is dire. Arguably the Lottery's most popular format really looking threadbare there and well, Atlantis is shot at.
Having said that, its going to take something pretty substantial to knock BGT and perhaps we can allow the BBC some slack after a stunning quarter 1 and probably a six month sweep of primetime Saturday wins.
BBC One threw in the towel opposite Britain's Got Talent and used Atlantis as a way to keep Casualty out of the firing line. I reckon Pointless Celebrities pulled in a 4m+ rating as well so did it's job against Ninja Warrior.

As I said before, this is what ITV are lacking; a few reliables which can hold an end up with steady figures. Celebrity Chase had potential but has been thrown against the likes of Strictly so hasn't been given the chance to grow.

Next Saturday BBC1 has the FA Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Reading kicking-off at 1720, no Pointless but Atlantis, In It To Win It and Casualty are there, BBC2 has the world snooker championship most of the evening

There you go - enough to knock Ninja Warrior UK back.

ITV will be hoping Arsenal v Reading doesn't go into extra time.

Yes as you say, they have harassed the new shows at the front and back end of the evening and probably stunted them whilst having the ten a penny lottery and the very "lost" Atlantis taking the brunt of BGT. Just shows the BBC are competitive all the way down the line.

Masterchef too tonight, adding an extra programme in that useful Sunday 7.30 half hour in a BBC1 friendly slot as a way of getting a extra decent rating.

And it goes to prove you can have a decent evening if you plan properly, even if a couple of shows do fall apart. If ITV have a flop in the schedule it's very rare to see them recover from it. BBC One manage this far better.

Thanks for this. No way The Boat Race would rate higher than The Grand National.

Do you know how Off Their Rockers did gottago?

Absolutely excellent for the National, and also commendable for BGT to be only 1m down y-o-y given ITV's recent perils, congratulations to that team

Strong for BGT. ITV will be very happy.

OK-ish for Ninja. As others say, let's see how it pans out across the run. I fear it might get quite repetitive quite quickly. It really is quite a watered down version of the excellent Japanese original.

Whistle is DOA. I found it horrific, but doubtless ITV will try ro spin the numbers by pointing to "increase in numbers of bald blokes called Trev" who watched it.

You name me one successful ITV panel show, and I'll give you an Easter Egg.

But let's not forget BBC. Totally abysmal. And does anyone know what - if anything - they've got lined up between now and Strictly's return, FIVE months away?

Brilliant number for Britain's Got Talent. More to the point: is that ITV's first overnight above 10 million (inc +1) this year? It certainly feels like it!

Ninja Warrior did fine, but Play to the Whistle didn't fare well, I can't say we should be too surprised at that though.

Nice peak for the Grand National, I think its done very well to stay in the spotlight considering it moved to Channel 4.

Definitely this year - can't think what was the last thing to do 10m+ for them.

I think The Chase/Tipping Point celebrity editions could help them out a bit. ITV does have a problem with having some big shows but not enough solid performers to sit alongside them.

Thanks. Does that include +1? It faced The Boat Race but I wonder if it'll do better at 5pm than Thunderbirds Are Go?

I'm A Celebrity (10.5m for the final on 7th December). The X Factor Final and Broadchurch consolidated over 10m but didn't get there in the overnights (the latter wasn't anywhere near it).

No - I'm merely saying that viewer voted awards are no more fair or unbiased than awards voted for by a panel.
Well they are. The people on panels probably don't even watch half of the programmes regularly.

ITV do incredibly well to keep BGT fresh and fun. No sob stories or continual arguments about judges. Most importantly it more than maintains its audience.
The complete opposite to the XF.
There's more variety when it comes to BGT than say TXF or The Voice. Which works in its favour.

Plus it's not dragged out (finishes in June), the presenters are adored and judges just judge. They don't push their agenda, though the golden buzzer means who they'd be rooting for is all the more obvious.

Wimbledon, an FA Cup Final which looks likely to include at least one big team, and the new series of the show which was the highest rated programme outside sport last year.. but other than those, nah. Unless you're an Athletics fan - and few of the BARB panelists usually are - it looks set to be an unexciting summer of sport, especially when compared to last year/next year.

Saying that have BBC One had a 10m overnight average this year outside of EastEnders Live (and that's to 2dp. To 3dp it pulled in 9.97m excluding BBC Three's repeat)? They've held up a lot better in the 5m-9m range than ITV but I don't think anything else has gone over the 10m mark.
