..................its the old plus 1 debate. The plus 1 figure made it over 10 million.
The weather has taken a real turn for the worse today so I'd look to see some better ratings tonight. Poldark and Vera may well both be up. Poldark will be better served by its lead-in tonight (McIntyre did OK last week but he probably got a different audience to Roadshow/Poldark which seem quite well matched).

You're welcome. I was just using the industry standard figures.

Really? Didn't Pointless Celebrities get 4.3m between 18:55-19:45? Ninja Warriors only increased to 4m and then finally 5.2m when Pointless was over.
Ninja Warrior will fall next week, Play To The Whistle could be under 2.5m viewers soon. Atlantis and IITWI collapsed incredibly I was amazed by how much.
BGT lost a million casual viewers on last year, share down also. Under the psychological 10m viewers on first showing. I predicted 9.5m so not a surprise. It will be the stand out rating until Wimbledon at least I imagine.

In fact, Letterman's ratings have stunk for quite some time now - so I don't think anyone will be surprised or dismayed by Corden's figures there.”
Corden is holding onto more of Letterman's viewers compared to Meyer which has a much higher lead in, CBS can't judge it just because Letterman is finishing in just over a month and so Corden's lead in for the next few months will be repeats of CBS dramas, they'll be judging it on how well he holds on Colbert's viewers when he starts in September.

It didn't help Corden that his premiere week was actually only 3 days followed by a 5 day break due to basketball.

Ryder Cup may do better if the last day was live on FTA TV like say BBC.
Pretty much as expected then last night. Not sure what ITV will make of the supporting show's numbers mind you, especially Play to the Whistle, but at least the main event BGT did the business as per usual.
I suppose the risk with Ninja Warrior as well is it could get repetitive very quickly and so may struggle to hold onto that audience, but it was watchable and certainly a vast improvement on a number of their recent efforts in entertainment.

Health and safety ruined Ninja Warrior, Would be much better in its original format.

I dont think on reflection that the ratings for the 2 new shows are that good - I can only see them both going down.

That's definitely a risk for Ninja Warrior. I think 5 episodes with the same obstacles might be a bit much. They change for the semifinals from episode 6. I think rather than having 5 heats and 2 semifinals I'd have merged them and had 7 shows where the first 30-45 mins would be the heats and then the last 15-30 mins of each episode being the next stage. Would have meant more variety in each show.
Ninja Warrior will get boring pretty quickly if it's the same thing for 5 weeks. The course wasn't very long and it wasn't as entertaining as Total Wipeout. I only watched 20 minutes and it was getting a bit repetitive even in that time. I like Ben Shephard, Kammy and Rochelle though. They did a good job.

ITV tried well with a son of Gladiators show and the ratings weren't too bad. I do recall BBC Two having a fairly successful martial arts show called Masters of Combat in 2001, something the elf and safety people wouldn't allow now. Sad as martial arts have nearly as many participants as football.
I can see all TV, especially the soaps, going lower than ever.”
It does seem that there is some sort of 'perfect storm' against the broadcasters at the moment and extended good weather is probably the last thing they need.
