I do, and I liked that, I enjoy seeing the pair of them riffing off each other and having a laugh. I thought the whole Japanese bit was very cleverly done, but I dunno what the general audience made of it. I have to say, given the audience laugh at any old rubbish, I was disappointed Dec's "Straight Outta Kempton" joke died on its arse.

I guess his original appointment was very much a Simon Cowell pick rather than an ITV one. But I think it potentially works in his favour as I could see him on BBC1, BBC2, Channel 4, Sky... whereas someone like Mulhern just seems so ITV.”
No, I think he seemed a bit of a leftfield choice when he got the job because he didn't seem to be your bland Saturday night host (I know he'd just done a lottery quiz, but you know what I mean). Of course he's always had his radio show as well. He's happy enough to work outside the mainstream and I think that stands him in good stead. I dunno if on YouTube they have that clip from Party In The Park where he had to fill for twenty minutes while they waited for Elton John to turn up (and then when they cut to the stage a stagehand started swearing extensively right next to a microphone),

Well, indeed, you can't blame Dermot for that, the whole concept was flawed. They never decided what kind of audience it was aiming at, whether it was a panel show aimed at a post-watershed audience or a big light entertainment thing, and it fell between two stools. Dermot did his usual professional job at it.

Yes, there's no excuse for Corrie to fail on a Sunday night at eight o'clock, it's a Sunday night at eight o'clock. A brilliant slot.
