TV help needed

Hi,

We've connected our bluray player to the sound bar which connected to the TV. We've got picture but no sound. Any ideas?

Well, make & model of each component would help.
What cables are attached between each device?
Is there a setting on the tv to tell it you are using an external sound source?

lol sorry! Everything is Samsung. There's a sound test so I did that and nothing was happening till I changed to tv speakers when sound came out on the test. Then the DVD had gone off, when I put it back on, same thing, no sound. The tv and sound bar are new so we're not really sure on them yet but the soundbar works when we watch they the sky box.

The DVD player used to with our old tv but come to think of it, it had it's own speakers then too. Do u think it needs to go thru it's own speakers? I would've thought it could go thru any?

Yes it is on, as I say the bluray is connected to the soundbar only and then thru that to the tv so I cant understand why it's passing the picture thru ok but no sound is coming out??

What are the model numbers and how are they connected ie with what cables?
Is there a setting on the tv to tell it you are using an external sound source?

I don't know model nos but the tv and sound bar are the curved ones. The bluray is connected to the soundbar via a double ended hdmi cable and the soundbar is connected to the tv a double ended hdmi cable. Don't know about how to tell it about the soundbar but it seems to know cos it works when we watch via the sky box.

Don't worry I've fixed it myself

it was telling u about how the sky box works that did it, I thought about how that was connected, ie to the tv not the soundbar so u plugged the bluray into the TV set the soundbar to tv and we have lift off, hurray!
