No BT Sport Help
Hi,
My grandmother currently has a BT Vision Box with an old Home Hub 1. She lost access to BT sport a few months ago (she used to receive it via the aerial, but i understand it is now sent via the broadband). Her BT Vision Box says that BT Sport is not available due to her having the old home hub. BT are also saying she needs infinity to get BT Sport. Could anyone confirm if this is the case, or could she stick with her Standard Broadband and just get a new Home Hub to get BT Sport back? Would BT charge for the new hub if she agrees to a new contract? Also BT wanted to charge her £200 to upgrade from BT Vision + to Youview. Is that definitely the case? Thanks in advance for your help. David |

I think the BT line is that if Infinity is available from your local exchange then you *must* take it to get BT TV / BT Sport. It is possible to get BT TV / BT Sport from some non-Infinity enabled exchanges but I suggest you ask over on BT's own support forums for more reliable information.

Thanks gomezz. I've posted over in the BT forums too, so will see what they say over there.
From what I understand if BT Sport was received via DTT with a BT Vision+ box, then it will be available over standard broadband, but BT are saying differently. It all seems very confusing! To add to the confusion my grandmother would like a new Youview box, so I'm guessing BT Infinity is going to be a requirement to get BT Sport either way in that scenario. |

Would BT Sport online be an option for her? You can connect a laptop or tablet or a dedicated device like a Roku to the main TV either using an HDMI lead or wirelessly using something like Chromecast. The big con of doing it that way (for me at least) is that you have to watch live rather than record and watch at your convenience.

Unfortunately not, I've suggested doing that but she's not interested!
She just wants it back on the TV via the box. Not sure there's going to be a way without upgrading to Infinity, especially if she wants You view as well. The only other option is if I get her a newer Home Hub and just seeing if that works. |

Homehub 3 definitely works as I am using it for BT TV on Infinity. They do at times offer a new homehub for post and package only, about £7, subject to recontracting so dig deeper on that.
![]() Surprised they want to charge her £200 for a Youview, unless she is still in some contract. |
