I bought and received a Cubot mobile phone this morning but CANNOT use it.

I tried charging the battery, by connecting it to the USB slot on my computer. It wouldn't connect. 'Driver MT65XX Preloader missing'.

I've searched the Internet trying to find this driver without success. Why sell a phone with a missing driver??? I am really annoyed.

Computer does not recognise phone.

Any link to the driver would be a great help. Thanks.

Isn't that the driver for your PC to recognise the phone though? Certainly nothing to do with the phone itself. Why not charge the phone via a normal USB mains charger first?

You don't try very hard, a simple Google search shows numerous links to how to fix it (with a direct link to a Google Drive download in about the 5th link).

Actually it did come with a two pin plug, but I would need an adapter. I could go out and buy one, but why should I?

Okay, so say I did. Then what if the charged phone still won't connect to the pc. I have a laptop, and it won't connect to that either.

I've already tried those links and drivers. The phone should be plug and charge. CONNECT. The drivers on there are fake. They don't download, but lead to spam.

Anyway, why the hell should I be going out looking for links. I had a report I should have written by 12 o'clock. I've spent over an hour on this already.

Totally hisses me off.

But thanks for your efforts anyway.

I suspect you arent telling the truth here, you've tried all the download links? And they are all spam? There is a XDADevelopers thread in the search with a download link AND instructions of how to install.

Just to be nice , I'll add the direct link:

Because you've bought a cheap bargain basement phone that is cheap for a reason and you shouldn't expect the same backup and support you would get if you had bought from a reputable brand like Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Sony etc who has more support backup?

From what I understand the drivers it cannot find are only required for when the phone is not turned on. Once it is charged and able to be turned on (and so running Android), support for file transfer etc is baked into Windows itself.

You're a very rude person. I've told you none of those links work on the phone.

I did download some drivers but my computer couldn't configure.

CASE CLOSED. PHONE GOING BACK.

PS. The phone cost £120. Hardly cheap.

Did you actually follow the instructions in the XDA link? They included removing any old configuration of the drivers.

By the way, £120 is a cheap phone when compared to most reputable brand 5" phones.

It's a cheap**** piece of junk, knowing the QC of these lesser known Chinese companies it's got a good chance of being faulty as well.

Samsung Galaxy Ace (pretty awful phone) is closest in price for £95:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-S583...ung+galaxy+ace

and that is only cheap because the development effort comes from the S4, S5 etc.

Galaxy S5 is £297:

Galaxy Alpha is £275:

iPhone 5c 8gb is £319:

You don't need a logical device 'connection' to get the phone charging. The power will be available from the computer via the USB lead with or without establishing USB communications.

When the battery is at least part charged, a sim is inserted and the phone boots up you should have no problems.

ETA I also have a Cubot phone and I'm using a kindle usb charger until I get a 3 pin adaptor for the supplied charger.

Wow what a strange thread. I am so pleased there are no feathers around as I wouldn't want to be knocked over, what with that news about Cubot not being a premium make like.
