3rd singles rarely do well for anyone these days, she has still had 2 number ones from this album which most artists in this day and age can only dream of

A number one means nothing. IDC was one of the lowest selling number 1's of the year. It's numbers that count, not chart positions.

Saying that though I think she's safe for now and at least has another album + a greatest hits (if you can call it that) in her before she's completely through.

I've created a similar thread before asking when Cheryl started to decline. She has been declining for a while now

Not likely, her latest album hit top 10 and produced two number 1's, giving her the record of British female artist with the most number 1's to her name.
The latest single which is arguably considered by fans to be her best single bombed because it had no radio support, no promotion and a bland video.
She'll probably turn into more of a singles artist from now on, maybe an album compiling said singles with some new tracks every couple of years or so.

Regardless of whether it is a third single, there is no excuse for someone who is essentially a household name to have a single that fails to chart. If it peaked within in the top 40, then that's rather alright. But the fact it didn't chart at all isn't a career milestone.

In all fairness, radio didn't get on board with the song.

Probably due to it being a good song with meaning, not a ballad and so on. It's a great song.

I don't see how someone could of had there day if they have had two number 1 singles in the last year and is probably the most talked about woman in the UK.

It had zero airplay which is why it bombed.

No she's not over. I'm not even a fan, but no doubt she will have another album and hit single. Why are people so reactionary these days? One flop single hardly means shes on the outer? Also, I don't think people like Cheryl doing Ballads...none of her ballads have done well.

She can dance. And that is a talent.

Talent isn't just limited to vocal abilities

Atm brand Cheryl is bigger than pop star Cheryl
She really needs to give pop star cheryl her all next time. It's like she couldn't be arsed with this album campaign

That's a big flop for her, but then with no airplay, what do you expect really ?

But then it was rather bland though.

Yes, Yes, Yes she was only ever truly popular to her X factor connection. use Call My name as an example as to why she wasn't but relay her album and second single figures back to me. She isn't a popstar she is a personality a name people have lost interest and her lacklustre music is shining through. She just scrapped top 10 with her last album and ask anyone to name her #1's apart from two most would struggle.

Shes a complete waste of space. No doubt there will be a single to promote in November from her ' greatest hit' album and she will use x factor to promote it ( if shes on it...that is)

She only really has a hit when she's tied to the X Factor. Strange, that.

Out of all Girls Aloud Cheryl IMO is the one least deserving of a solo career. Yeah, she can dance. That's where it ends. Give me Nicola or Nadine any day.

Edit - Actually Sarah is the least deserving... but thankfully she didn't bother trying for one.

I had an argument with someone last year about how she only ever has a hit due to XF connections. I was wrong apparently. I still stand by that and the epic flopness of this just backs it up.

Her Million Lights era was successful without x factor, Call My Name was a huge hit and the album sold fairly well and I believe her tour sold out.
Because at that point she still appeared to care and she put the work in, she had an absolute ton of promotion for CMN and it paid off, the problem recently is that she hasn't had the same level of promo.
Someone like Cheryl needs that to stay in the public eye musically.

I personally disagree. Sarah has a better voice than Kimberley and Cheryl put together.

It is surprising if Cheryl's single flopped, considering she is meant to be one of the most famous UK pop stars. She should have made more effort to promote her song. It is not her fault if her song didn't get radio play though. Radio one are against playing artists who are over the age of 30. Age discrimination comes to mind when it comes to Radio one. That is another story though.

Popularity has declined, her album sales are only 40,000-60,000 i think.
But she did have two number 1 singles.
I think she is now more of a singles seller.
Yes this single should not of flopped, she is considered a huge star in the UK
But it is the third single....Take That's has flopped for example.
It's a good single i like it. She should tour now. I think Cheryl fought for this third single as she thought it might improve the album sales but that has not happened.

I had absolutely no idea she even had a new single out. Surprised she didn't perform it when she was on Saturday Night Takeaway. Not that I'm complaining, mind. I would've had to find my remote so I could mute the TV.

Depends on her relationship with The X Factor, remember when her last two no.1s were released they had a lot of publicity ie the marriage to French boyfriend, X Factor live shows airing when she was a judge etc. If she's back on this year I think she will do fine, but she's definitely past her peak now
