http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selena

Doubt many users will know about this singer who was killed at the age of 23 by a former employee on March 31st 1995, 20 years ago today.

Described as the 'Hispanic Madonna' she had already cracked the Latin American market at a considerable young age and was tipped for big things in the transition to the English-speaking market before her sad and premature death.

Shame we never got to find out if she would have indeed been a success at the transition.

Her best song imo:

I got into her a few years ago. Talented young woman. I have her english greatest hits. I would of loved to have seen how well she would of done internationally if it wasn't for her death, as that was pretty much what she was planning to do at the time.

Very sad.

I've heard of her but I wouldn't really know any of her songs.

The tragic death of Selena (and other artist of the time) gave that generation a far reaching sense of despondency.

The following article remembers Selena.
