I'm looking for a small smartphone as I have no desire for one of the huge slates that most people carry around these days. Currently using an aging xperia Ray but from what I've seen available at the minute, the 'mini' versions of other phones e.g. s4/s5 are still pretty big.

So is there anything available that matches the spec of my old xperia Ray and most importantly is of similar small dimensions?

The smallest on this list is 4.3 inches, which will look big versus the 3.3 inch Ray.

That's the problem innit. The Ray, to me, is the perfect sized smartphone. Big enough for browsing or mapping but small enough to comfortably fit in the pocket. It's the width that's the remarkable thing about the Ray. Height and thickness aren't anything special but the narrow width certainly is.

You will just have to wait until the fashion changes again.

How do you fancy a smartwatch?

My girlfriend had the same issue, wanting a small phone replacement that would fit in the pocket of her jeans etc. Women don't tend to have baggy pockets like men. After looking about we settled on an iphone 5c in white. WIth a 4inch screen it's on the smaller side of the currently available smartphones. We found a great deal via http://www.hotukoffers.com/mobiles/manufacturers/apple

I'm still running an iphone 5s because i love the size and yet it does everything i need, surfing, youtube, os maps, back pocket when i'm running or out on bike.

Good luck with your search!

I bought a used iphone 4s for this very reason. It does everything I need it to brilliantly and fit's snugly in my pocket.
I don't know why people want Dom Jolly phones.

Remaining on Android, the Galaxy s4 Mini is pretty pocketable for a 4" phone.

S4 mini
124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm (4.91 x 2.41 x 0.35 in)

5c
124.4 x 59.2 x 9 mm (4.90 x 2.33 x 0.35 in)

Have you got amazingly small pockets or something?
My iPhone 6 goes in my pocket and I don't know it's there.
I think this is mainly down to how thin it is.

Original moto g is quite a nice size - big enough to use but small enough to fit in pockets.
