My chromecast only plays youtube videos now, all the other chromecast apps dont work since yesterday. Tried a factory reset putting my wireless key in again, rebooted it, took the chromecast out off my tv overnight. Nothing works except youtube.

Any suggestions.

Not sure what is wrong but have you tried Videostream?

Weird that only youtube should work, What are you casting from? It might be that that has the issue.

What are you casting from? It might be that device that is the cause of the problem not the Chromecast dongle. But without knowing how you are using it it is difficult to offer any real advice.

Have you some other device that works with Chromecast that you can try as a check? Or have access to another Chromecast dongle to test your device with? That would point to whether it is your dongle or the device you are casting from.

No i havent. The best bet is to wait until it needs a software fix. As i have now tv on my ps3 and netflix.

It works now. Turned my WIFI off for 5 mins on my tablet. For some reason my tablet was set on th 1st of April which was yesterday. Maybe they were playing an April fools joke. Spooky.

Anyway fixed now. Sorry for posting

You can do it now (to a degree) if you have chrome browser installed with chromecast plugin installed (now installed by default I think).

Click on chromecast pull down menu, and in top right hand corner you will see a small (I mean small) icon which if you click pulls down the full screen mode (called Beta but been Beta forever). Click on full screen mode and whatever is on PC will be on TV.

The quality may only be SD or thereabouts, but ok for DVDs normally - may not be so good for Bluray. If laptop is powerful enough, and you have a good wifi, it should not buffer.

One slightly annoying thing is (at least on my laptop) you cannot turn off/down audio on laptop without affecting TV. The tv slightly lags behind laptop, so you get a double sound. I get round this by simply plugging a headset to laptop and turn headset volume down (not laptop volume).

Yes sadly full screen mode doesn't work on my laptop.
