To me 91 - 94 was a golden period. 95 Saw a massive decline, that continued thoughtout that decade.
The Bends and The debut album by Garbage were good albums from 95 though. |

Blur were my band of choice for 95. Seeing them at Mile End that year will always be a special memory.
There were plenty of great albums and singles that year, with Elastica and Supergrass being particular faves. I think 94 and 97 were my years of choice from the nineties, though. |

Bought my first single that year, "I'm a Believer" by EMF/ Reeves & Mortimer.
Of course, the big story that year was the battle of Britpop. I bought Country House but went on to be a bigger fan of Oasis. |

I turned seven that year, but it's when my musical memories really start to increase, particularly at the end of the year when presumably the radio was on a lot so I remember Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet', Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song', Mike Flowers Pops' 'Wonderwall' and, of all things, Suggs's 'Camden Town' really clearly. And the Britpop battle, which I remember preferring Country House.
It was only several years later I realised 1995 contains two of the greatest songs ever recorded in Pulp's 'Common People' and N-Trance's 'Set You Free'. I think 1996 just edges it for the amount of classics but there's some damn good ones in '95, helped by memories of one of the best and warmest summers in recent history! Shout out to McAlmont & Butler's 'Yes' too, which I've only discovered in the last few years, brilliant track. |

As I have been reading many year and decade charts to decide on my 2nd favourite songs by several artists, I have unearthed my top 20 from 1995. The rest of them, in addition to ones I listed on Friday, were as follows:-
Boo-Radleys:- Wake Up Boo Deuce:- I Need You Portishead:- Sour Times Paul Weller:- The Changing Man Perez Prez Prado:- Guaglione U2:- Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me Menswear:- Daydreamer Supergrass:- Allright Dionne Farris:- I Know Roxette:- The Look '95 Enya:- Anywhere Is Passengers:- Miss Sarajevo Levellers:- Just the One If this seems one song too many, it is because Snap's one wasn't in my top 20 of 1995 after all!
