Android or apple - choice is very personal. Pluses and minuses - many threads on this subject, and reviews on web.
There is now a realistic third option e.g. Linx 8 tablet (£90) - this comes with full windows 8.1 (+Bing but you can change this). This is not the cutdown windows 8 RT. You can install same apps including desktop app as you get on PC. OK, its not a power machine but is fine for ms office stuff, emails, browsing, playing videos, accessing netflix etc. Of course desktop screen is small, but that is only an issue if you are configuring things normally (use teamviewer from your pc to connect remotely and configure as required). Included with £90 is a year's subscription to MS Office 365 + 1 TB of cloud storage (yes 1 TB), That would cost £59.99 alone. I have a Linx 8, and I found when running things like BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD etc, it works fine unlike android (can't say about apple) which always seems to hang frequently. So you could get a great device and save yourself £160 - loads of beer! |
