? Also do these things come with browsers? I don't want to be limited to the apps but I'm wondering if they all come with browsers and if they work ok, like flash/video content for example?
My main passions are football and new movies and American TV.

If the device runs android ( i would make sure it runs at least kitkat), it can load any app on playstore, that means you can install any browser you want, but chrome is normally on there anyway by default, and that plays most website videos no probs, but then you can get the youtube app, catchup tv for freeview etc.
But the real fun begins once you install xbmc, there are loads of add os for that you can watch pretty much any live sport from all around the world all for free. you also get other premium channels $ky etc but they pop on and off on a daily basis, and all the movies and tv shows all for free.
Google xbmc (i think its called KODI now), and video add ons to go with it, sports devil, navi-x, are great starting points, you may be able to download a xbmc with all add ons already installed, and your stick may come preinstalled with all the add ons you will ever need.
If you arent going to play games, the stick doesnt need to be that powerfull, most will play 1080p video files just fine.
