SquareTrade Shows Samsung S6 Edge as Bendable as iPhone 6 Plus & More Likely to Crack

SquareTrade also tested HTC's new One M9, which bent — and broke completely — at 120 pounds of pressure.

SquareTrade said that while these results may not constitute "Bendgate 2," they could be even worse for Samsung fans than Apple's own PR issues of last year.

"Because instead of a bent phone, they may have a pocket full of glass," they said. ”

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the media & tech world.

As We all know how any negative Apple story brings in the web clicks.

One of the key things about mobile phones, is that they should be fit for purpose - that is you should be able to use them when out and about and they should eb able to cope with the rigors of daily use hot, cold, rainy, sunny and be able to stand up to life being taken in and out of pockets.
One of the things i look for in a phone is it durability, ease of repair should the screen break and the availability of replacement parts.
The s6 edge doesn't look at all easy to repair, and im guessing the screen is glued in as well

that cannot be an easy thing to assess.

Must remember not to put my S6 under 110lbs of pressure when I get it. Shouldn't be too hard to remember. I've owned three Samsungs over the last 10 years and have never so much as scratched the screen.

I've always liked Samsungs for their durability and this doesn't put me off in the slightest. I've always taken great care of my phones; never kept them in the same pocket as my keys, kept them away from liquids (except for an old Nokia 5110 which I once dropped in a pint of ale - and carried on working) never balanced them on the edge of a table and I'm always aware of people fooling about near me who might knock it out of my hands.

This is just blatant scaremongering to drum up business for extended warranties.

Why didn't they test the S6? We need to see how durable that is, particularly as Samsung were touting it's strength at the announcement. And what about the iP6? We need data!
