The whole issue didn't become a big thing after real world cases. It became a big thing after videos on the net of people willfully bending them went viral.

“There was and is still an issue with it. It's has only died down because people are aware of it. It hasn't stopped it actually happening! A few folk i know have had bent iphones and haven't abused them in the slightest. Having a phone in a pocket is not trying to bend it. Apple however have been fine and swapped them, which is good.”
The point isn't really about whether or not there's an issue. The point is the difference between the reaction to the same issue with different phones.
Having said that, I would imagine most people keep phones in their pockets. So most people's iPhone 6s should, according to you, be bent. But I'd be surprised if that was the case.

Why does there need to be real world reports? These tests are reporting that it bends as easily as the iPhone. They seem pretty scientific - is there a reason you don't accept them without real world reports?
I don't believe for a second that had similar reports about the iPhone surfaced before it was released it you'd be arguing that it didn't really mean anything because the phone wasn't released yet.
