On a related note, is it fair to say DTC (EE) is a fan of musicals?

Over the past year, he has cast lots of musical talent (from the stage) in EE for guest stints

I would say he is an avid theatre goer certainly. His castings do seem to be a bit out there, he's not afraid to take risks and they generally pay off.

He can afford it. I would live to go to the theatre more but can't afford it.

It does seem fitting that Linda, a musical fan, happens to have a mum played by one of the west end's most acclaimed musical theatre actresses.

Me too. I don't live far from London but the prices of the tickets are so expensive - I go once a year as a special treat.

I think he is being clever as there are a lot of talented stage actors who always get overlooked

Me too, even productions outside of the west end cost an arm and a leg. Ridiculous if you ask me

I spent a week in London a few years back and saw a production every night, wish I coulddo it more often as it was great fun. You do have to look out for the deals, we got some great seats.

It's a small miracle that the characters don't break out into One Day More at least once a week.

Living in London is expensive and we don't all earn what DTC does! I am yet to see any theatre this year and I am a playwright!

I love the little subtle references to theatre in Eastenders nowadays, especially how it drives Linda as a person. That influence is most definitely there, even asides from Linda and I really like it, just shows that DTC has a lot of respect for several different art forms and that helps in my eyes.

Exactly - it means he's a bit more adventurous in his casting rather relying on the same old faces from the soap world

You can get loads of theatre tickets for £10 and below you've just gotta be on the look out. Look at the north & east theatres rather than the south and west ones.

I haven't been to the theatre in ages either Birmingham does have a couple of good theatres but I would love to have unlimited access to west end shows.

Me too, ever since I was a small child. My lifelong dream is that one day I will walk down the street and all the passerbys will suddenly burst into a song and dance routine without any practice at all but they will all be superbly talented.

My whole family inherited my passion (which I got from my dad) and I have a granddaughter that has starred in many regional musicals, so I get to attend shows, as well as getting private performances on demand . Tallulah in Bugsy and Sandy in Grease were the most recent.

Lucky you!

I have issues with children dressing as adults, it freaks me out a bit so I avoid Bugsy Malone. The clips I have seen of the film is too cringeworthy for me. Nothing wrong with Grease though.

I repeatedly watched Annie on VHS as a young child before my mum destroyed the tape as she was fed up of watching it. Cannot bring myself to watch the latest version though.

Mary Poppins and Sound of music are my faves. Although I also love Thoroughly Modern Millie, not seen it on stage though. Hairspray was fantastic and I love Spamalot too.

I get want you mean, but she was 16 when she did it, so not so young (a bit of a cheat)

I loved JCSS, Miss Saigon, Oliver and Me and My Girl. We have different taste once again. I'd love to have seen Declan in Once.

I liked Miss Saigon too actually and Oliver. Have not seen JCSS or Me and My Girl.

Declan needs to do another stint in Once so we can go and drool over him together. I have seen the film version but I imagine it's much better on stage.,

Anyone seen Matilda or Book of Mormon? I think Tim Minchin is a genius.
