I think it'll be nice for some of his family to make a one off return to the soap Besides Jack, keep him away.

I'd like to see April bacl and Suzy Robbie too as he was close with Jim. What do others think?

I think it would only be right for Jack, Robbie and Bianca to return. I can't think of a logical excuse as to why they wouldn't. April and Suzy I suppose lost contact with him, so they may not turn up.

From the looks of it Jim's funeral might be low key, would of been better placed in the summer instead of longside Stan's funeral.

SURELY, they've planned to bring Patsy Palmer and Scott Maslen back?

I hope they do bring people back for the funeral as it would be really unrealistic if they didn't .

It does seem that Jim's funeral isn't going to be overly big, I was kinda expecting something similar to 'Frank Week'. Jim was a great character and he deserves a big send off, I wonder if it means we won't see any returns, I highly doubt Pasty Palmer is coming back, I thought DTC may have tempted Scott Maslen back as they get on very well and we all know Dean Gaffney would have returned like a shot, we will see...

Its been so long since April has been seen a glorified extra with one or two lines would do for her. Can't imagine Scott and Dean Gaffney are so busy they couldn't do a days filming.

I wish April would return. Suzy is a bitch really doesn't care about anyone. April was lovely though.

In regards the the poster who said Dean gaffney is too busy... He's practically begging for ee to bring him back full time!

Dean Gaffney should be brought back full time, never mind just for a funeral.

With ITV soaps, when a soap actor/actress dies in real life the programme makers talk to the family and give the character the exit the family wants. I don't know if it's the same with the BBC. If it is, perhaps John Bardon's family want a quiet exit for Jim. It's going to be hard for them, John's friends and the EE cast who won't just be saying good bye to a character but also a friend and colleague.

Jack would be an obvious one, and from what i hear Scott isn't that busy at the moment to be unavailable. But he wasn't visible in the pics of the funeral scenes that were leaked, so likely not. Soaps are unrealistic in getting family members to come back for their relatives funeral. Sometimes it's the case of the actor being unavailable or sometimes it's the case of poor continuity and a case of "cba"

While this would be a great time for Suzy Branning to come back, it's fitting to the nasty and selfish side of the character to not be bothered to return for her own father's funeral.

Bianca, likely not. She will likely be mentioned to be too busy, ill or whatever. Maybe Tiffany and Morgan, who will most likely stay with Carol and Sonia for a few episodes.

Well seeing as Patsy is living in the USA now I don't see her coming back sadly

Jack Branning: come back, pay respects to dad, impregnate someone at the wake, bugger off again.

I wouldn't object as carols unit is weak imo. But Robbie would only really be a background character like fatboy.

This! He's finished impregnating Mitchell women I guess he could move on to a new family. Nancy, Stacey, Shabnam all fair game for him I'd imagine.

Well Joe, that would depend entirely on the writing for him and if they can be bothered to explore his character.

Robbie was a pretty interesting character, from a great family unit. It would definitely give Carol more to do aswell, which is kind of needed now Bianca and her clan have gone.

Dean Gaffney wants work, and I think this is what he should be given. He has served the show before, and so I think he deserves another chance, to do so again. However, I doubt they'll bring him back. They'll probably go and hire a well known celebrity, to play a guest role, whilst whinging they can't find any working class actors.

Thing is, John Bardon didn't actually spend a lot of time working with the likes of Patsy, Dean, Debbie and Scott so they may not be tempted to return to pay their respects if they didn't know him that well.

It was different with Mike Reid, he had worked closely with Sid, Sophie and Charlie

I would quite like to see Dean Gaffney back, at least have him visit the family a few times.

The show pulled out all the stops last year by bringing back past characters when they were required. We even had Janes brother and best friend turn up for her wedding. The show currently does try to bring people back when they are required, if they can.

I think they have done quite well with getting old faces to pop in for appropriate occasions over the last 12 months, Anthony Trueman, Christian Clarke, Tanya, Ryan Malloy to name a few

I don't know why they decided to have Jim's funeral now when it will also be Stan's within a day or two, it seems a shame not to give Jim an episode or two just devoted to him

It does seem strange that Jim's funeral is now, the only thing I can think of is maybe John Bardon's family asked for the funeral not to be the main focus so that's why they have ran it alongside Stan's.
