Hi
Can someone find or tell me what Johnny said to Adele when they snogged/kissed pleased? Thanks Btw I love watching and reading this thread and holby Hansenn does know Self, he sent him a congratulations note on his first day. I guess they'll forget that or Serena might not know. |

Going by what Mo's just said - she's 38 this year.
They established her birth parents were mid teens so his having been born in 61 makes sense. I'm liking Annabelle a lot this week. In fact the whole episode is better than last week's in my opinion but then less Fletch and more Internal Politics and Serena is always fine by me. |

The whole thing regarding the CEO position was confusing did Serena knew and that is why she called the Swede?

It's rather quiet on here today. Maybe the excitement of Hanssen has been too much to cope with ?
![]() Anyways... Excellent episode, I thought. Catherine Russell was just brilliant. The way Serena can fall over twice and still maintain her dignity is marvellous. I liked the way Hanssen was spotted earlier on, sitting on the bench. I could picture him turning everything over in his mind and deciding what needs to be done. And then a lovely loom at the end. All this and the glorious Mr T (MR T!!!). Episode review here. |

I'd twigged about 15 minutes in that Annabelle had a tumour herself, but the reveal still perhaps came a bit early, might have been better to drop a few hints and then reveal it further down the line. Guy caught between being a doctor and being an administrator and getting a well-deserved brow-beating from Angus.
So, Mo decides to compound Adele's offence by making an even more questionable use of hospital records to contact her dad under false pretenses. Despite the apparent failure, Clifford's listed as recurring so presumably we'll see him again. The patient storyline was quite engaging, with a nicely ambiguous ending and them being left with a very uncertain future. It might have been better not to trail Henrik's return so much (and with a clip from another episode at that), thus spoiling his "surprise" reappearance at the end. It's nice that the show can laugh at Serena, with her prat falls and finding herself the subject of gambling stopping her from taking herself too seriously. The whole CEO thing is a bit confusing: Serena did seem to want it, yet she apparently had Henrik waiting in the wings already. And now she's been instructed by the board to offer it to someone else but is instead acting as though Henrik taking over is a done thing. Is she just assuming that if she brings him into the board they'll go "Oh yes, that's a much better idea" and hire him? And if so, why didn't she tell Angus? So as not to spoil the cliffhanger?! Oh and nice to get a bit of clarification of Jac and Jonny's status, although some lines just caused confusion (Was Mo's "postcard" comment to be taken literally or not?). Hard to tell if Mo's cynicism was just her being a downer or an indication of what's to come... |

I did wonder if Mo's comment about Jac dumping Jonny eventually was a way of informing the viewers that it will happen before or soon after Jac's return.

Loved the Serena shoes funny bits and I think she and Angus would make a nice couple. Nice to hear an Edward mention too.
I really like Annabelle and wish she was a regular character. I think Mo's comments about Jac were foreshadowing abut also shows that she never misses an opportunity to stab Jac in the back. As for her questionable actions over her father you could say the ends justify the means but it all seems a bit iffy to me. He appears to be a nice man, though. Although impregnating a 15 year old girl and then doing a runner does not exactly show him in a good light. It's just so good to see Hanssen back that words fail me. |

Hard to tell if Mo's cynicism was just her being a downer or an indication of what's to come... She must just be assuming that they'll bite Hansenn's hand off if he offers to come back and he does have a better track record than their other candidate. Great to get clarification as to Janny's relationship status now, they clearly are properly 'together' (as i thought from Jac's comment about him having her if he wanted and seeing them in the domestic situation) but Mo has doubts it will last. That might just be her resenting Jonny 'leaving' her though (i always did feel that most of the issues between Mo and Jac stemmed from them fighting over the same 'toy' - they seemed to get on better when Jac wasn't dating Jonny). That line was confusing, i wondered if it was literal or metaphorical re them being away but I think they included it as a way of indicating we wouldn't hear much about them from now on and also to indicate it could go either way so they do,'t contradict themselves when Jac returns as they probably hadn't storyline it when these episodes were written and won't have decided if they want them together off screen or not. Hansenn, Hansenn, Hansenn! Yay! |

To be fair to Clifford, he can't have been much older than 15 himself if he was born in 61. Obviously never nice to walk out on a pregnant girlfriend (especially an underage one) but slightly more forgiveable if he wasn't much more than a child himself. |

How old is Mo Effanga meant to be? Her father Clifford (played by the guy who played Michael, Desmond's eldest son in Desmonds) said his father came over from Trinidad in 1960 and he was born 10 months later which means he was born 1961ish making him 54 this year.
I thought Mo was about 38-40 or there abouts?

I'm sure that somewhere in the annals of Holby City history there's a character whose return would have been less welcome than that of Fake Doctor Oliver. I just can’t think of one right now. I’ve never quite forgiven Henrik for the way he covered up Oliver practising medicine illegally, after shafting his sister to save his lazy ass, and after he’s finally sacked years after he should have been…now they let the twerp back in. And with Elliot acting as chief cheerleader he’ll probably be around for a long time, no matter how useless he is. Is he just there to give audience members so inclined something nice to look at? Because the appeal is lost on me.
Good to see Henrik back though, although the episode is oddly reluctant to admit that from the outset given that we’ve already seen him. And it’s nice that instead of arriving with a flourish he just calmly walks in and starts giving orders as though he’s never been away. One oddity: Guy gave up CEO because he wasn’t allowed to continue as a surgeon otherwise, yet Henrik is apparently called away to do an operation at one point? I’d have liked Zosia’s reaction to Annabelle’s news to be a bit more understated (but I guess she’s got bipolar as an excuse). Henrik leaving Guy quaking in his boots and trying his hardest to show his is bigger (and failing) after so long playing King of the Castle is great. I prefer Fletch when he’s pointless, rather than carrying out a greatest hits package of his dull Casualty storylines and moaning about money worries if the writer can be bothered to give him more than two lines. I…just…don’t…care. Plus point: Jesse getting his biggest role in a long time. Does anyone from Holby City check what’s going on in Casualty or vice versa? Saturday’s Casualty mentioned Guy Self as if he’s still CEO, today’s Holby City mentioned Connie Beauchamp as if she’s around to take on the CEO job and not just jumped on a plane to Eastern Europe after dodging a murder charge. |

Great episode. Sublime acting from Guy Henry. Hanssen enhanced every scene. Also great to see Dixie from Casualty and her interaction with her old friend Fletch.

Watching late as it didn't start to 10.50 here tonight but agree with comment above re continuity between casualty and Holby.
So far I am actually liking Ollie LESS than I did when he was in it two years ago. Although I am only 20 minutes in. |

Lots of continuity issues for me. Hansenn sent Self a bottle of champagne and congratulation note in Self's first episode saying he couldn't think of anyboDy better for the job - implying they knew each other. Jac and Hansenn had made the move to paperless Admin in May 2012 - more than a year before Oliver left and he actually helped Elliot get to grips with it so he shouldn't have been asking for forms. Valentine did anything but just sit in a library when he was a Med Student. He was partying and then stealing his sisters work! At least they acknowledged that in normal circumstances Connie would have been a contender for the job. I took Sacha's "surely not" to be a comment on her recently having been arrested making it unviable. I do agree about lack of common ground between the 2 shows though. I commented to a friend about Guy still appearing to be CEO on Casualty and also nobody on either show mentioning the adverse publicity having 2 senior members of staff arrested for murder of a Patient within a month of each other would bring the Hospital - even though they were both found to be innocent. Quite a good episode though I still find Adele to be unbearably smug and annoying. |
