Is it my imagination, or are all the wards in Holby mixed? I thought mixed wards had been outlawed now.

AAU is as is any AAU, I mash up off general complaints which often has a lot of surgeons called down for various reasons.

Darwin is a cardiothoracic ward and mostly elective surgeries, although interestingly you never see the hours of outpatient, pre and post work those surgeons do with their patients - well the consultants would do because registrars so most of the actual surgeries.

Keller is general surgery and in some capacity neuromis attached now. Which is dramatic licence.

I think the poster was wondering if they should have both men and women there.

No idea. Think it is? Unless there are different wards on the ward. Dramatic licence I guess.

To the Mixed Ward and other things that just don't tally up - I assume that it's a parallel universe where such boring things as the law, common sense and there always being actual consequences for your actions don't often exist.

And yet it used to be so much better than this! Sure it had aspects of madness about it at times (Faye Morton's multiple husbands stuff comes to mind) and you have to wonder how some characters got away with some of the stuff they pulled, but back when Tony McHale it was showrunning, there was a lot more coherency to it.

If we assume that this is fluff-TV, then what do we think could be done to make it a higher-quality kind of fluff? Answers on a post-card....

Cut out the overly soapie love triangles, who is the daddy, characters getting sent to and stabbed in prison, nurses just there to sleep with people. At the moment none of that exists... They got rid of all the characters... We will see. They have struggled to gain a foot hold this past year or so. That it isn't accurate regarding the dynamics of a hospital... I don't worry about too much... Because real life is quite boring.

I think Holby's turned a corner recently. Having Ollie and Hanssen back has brought drama and I like how it's mixing the old with the new now.

Yep I think so. I perked up when Zosia was introduced but the recent changes are heading in a good direction I think... Fingers crossed.

Jessie is such a waste of a character, hopefully this Adele stuff will make him interesting

I think Jesse has been ruined by his association with Adele - she has turned him from a fun loving wild card (albeit a womaniser) into a boring tale-telling lap dog.

Jesse's problem is that he is one of those characters who was brought in to serve another character, in his case Zosia. Then they just put him with Adele. If they had spent time building him as a character. Things would be different.

I feel like Essie has been brought back for the same purpose (but for Sacha) They have gave her a good background; but I think with Sacha she is brought down.

Yeah it is a big mistake Holby make. They should sidestep it a bit more. Hopefully with the regeneration happening at the moment they will have no more of this.

Any word on when Dominic is going to get a storyline? When he came back I thought he was gonna go full blown psycho but he's gone quiet and actually become quite funny...

My take on this is that he was brought back with every intention of him going full blown psycho but then they saw how funny he was and how well he played off against Digby and Zosia and they changed direction.

I hope his psycho side is not gone for good, though.

By the way did any Casualty viewers think the Chinese lady looked familiar?? I think she played Tara Lo's mother in Holby but I could be mistaken.

I also thought that the short fat thug looked facially very like Matt Willis!!

I agree - he's become hilarious but has also shown in the past how well he can handle a serious storyline.

There is at least other aspects to Essie's relationship with Sacha beyond the 'standard' stuff - even thogh it is guilt by association there is the fact he and his famiy (and presumably some friends) are Jewish and her Grandfather was a Nazi. There is how she gets on with his children and whether their mothers cause difficulties, i'm thinking Chrissie could be quite possesive about Daniel getting 'another, mother. Essie must be about 40, does she want kids of her own? If she does, she'll probably want then quite soon, does Sacha want to have another baby at about 50 when he already has 3.

So, in short, i think their relationship has storyline potential without having to bring in 3rd party love interests, life threatening accidents etc.

No, i'm pretty sure the middle aged actress wasn't Mrs Lo. I can't remember the actress' name but she was in 'The Adventure Game' and 'Howards Way' when young. She was also Carline Choi in Brookside (pretty sure they lived in. M+ 7 between the Collins and the Dixons) in the early 90s alongside David Yip as her brother who played her husband in Holby City.

The young Chinese girl was in Corrie a few years ago for a while.

You're quite right: According to IMDb, Sarah Lam did play Lin Lo in two episodes of Holby City (as well as being in Howards' Way).

It would be great if they realised this with all the characters. I mean Jac and Jonny... really... really like those too weren't brilliant enough trying to deal with the very real personality issues there.

The Whose the Daddy story line... like they couldn't have played that as a marriage falling apart. The girl playing Amy was leaving anyway.

The potential of Ollie/Zosia - like that wouldn't get never ending mileage out of the issues of these two.

The Greg/Sahira relationship was a really good idea because things like that do happen... but it was executed in the end badly.

They should just actually give the characters a reason for being, apart from their relationship is one way of avoiding having to do the bad and the ugly.
