There has been no official announcement - people wer just speculating before it aired it was an exit.

They will probably put out a PR release soon to say one way or the other but i think he has gone for good.

I did love the Dom and Digby stuff and I thought it was a lovely send off for Elliott!

I'm sure he won't though so it seems like they just want Jac to be unhappy and unfulfilled forever so she won't lose her 'edge'.

If he were going to come back, they could still have done that and had her realise that he was 'the one' and she needed to leave an off screen Jonny.

Fantastic episode, despite retconning and the Janny thing. Jac is back on utterly fabulous form, as is Frieda, we had a lovely Joseph mention, some nice Dom/Digby stuff, Ollie/Zosia, Elliot actually did something good (telling that awful guy off) for once AND he's finally ****ed off! Best ep since I don't know when. There were some really touching moments too, even though I generally loathe Elliot I do like his and Jac's relationship when he's actually being nice to her. Lots of lovely little moments between them.

I don't think there was ever any doubt Joseph was the love of her life but they should have just left Jonny out of it.

As long as that's the least we hear of the dreadful Jonny I'm happy. Jac is 10,000 times too good for him.

I seem to be in the minority in having thought that Jonny had redeemed himself in his last few months after Bonnie and the custody battle and if they stopped snarling at each other (as they seemed to have done) they could get on and have an okay life with Emma. So what if he isn't the love of her life, you can love more than one person and we were told several times she loved Jonny. In a different way to Joseph, but she did love him. If she can't make it work with him, then i don't think she has a chance with anybody and whilst I'm not saying you need a man to be fulfilled or happy, i do think Jac does need that in a way or there will always be something missing.

So it seems to me, either they are going to have to try and introduce yet another new man for her which i won't buy into after Joseph and Jonny as I don't think she gives her heart easily, or she will be alone, and unhappy and bitter for the rest of her time in the show. I do,'t even think they'd give her a reprieve on her exit now as she kind of got the sunset ending with Jonny and i think they want her always to be a 'nasty' character due to the loss in her own life and that will never change.

That's why they've done it and it just makes me upset and angry as i could see it coming and i think it is lazy - they are never going to mover her character on in any meaningful way.

If they have another custody battle or her giving up Emma again i really will have had it with this show.

Also, if they were going to split them up, did they have to do it so nastily and flippantly? I know you could argue it was in character for her but she'd just been opening up. She could have continued in the same sad tone, saying that they tried but couldn't make it work - too much history or similar but they were keeping it amicable for Emma's sake.

The ending was really sweet but it was obvious Jac was filmed seperately. Do you think the others were the crew members because the girl who plays Morven was dressed as herself. I think they probably just got whoever was there to film it. Very sweet... And very real. They all looked like themselves. Zosia wasn't made up for the cameras for example.

There was apparently a leaving do but they all did well keeping it under wraps. Love Petrenko... And she must have known about Tara... This one won't die in you.

I can’t say I really believe in Brigitte as the lost love of his life (indeed, the fact that she’s suddenly something other than an old friend seemed made up on the spot), but he seemed happy so that’s good, I guess. I loved that he felt comfortable to call Henrik by his first name and he had some great scenes with Frieda and, of course, Jac. Ah yes, Miss Naylor. She seems to be making a habit of appearing out of nowhere to save the day in theatre. At least this one didn’t jar with her exit (although that arguably came later). Her scenes with Elliot were golden, especially the look on her face when he calls her Garry’s “new mummy”. I guess if he’s gone that answers the question of who’ll be in charge when she comes back, although not the one of who’s in charge now. I actually assumed Elliot was already doing the director of research job since we’ve barely seen him with patients since he accepted it. Whilst I can’t say I care either way and found their “happy ending” very forced, it does seem odd that after years of build-up Jac and Jonny’s relationship gets ended in two throwaway lines of dialogue. I don’t need to know what happened but we do need to know whether or not they’re on good terms and what the situation is with Emma. Not sure what the point of that happy families Skype chat was now… I imagine a lot of people were gushing over Jac’s speech of Joseph. It worked in context even if I was never a huge fan of them either.

The Arthur/Dominic stuff was okay but couldn’t compete with Elliot in my opinion. Psycho Dom still bubbling under the surface, making it hard to take his lectures seriously, and Arthur apparently gets his mojo back. And they teased the slash fans.

Don’t care at all about Oliver and Zosia. Have I missed or forgotten an explanation for why Mo’s on crutches?

I did think Jonny had somewhat redeemed himself in his final months. I remember at the time I wasn't overly delighted about their exit, mainly because I felt there were so many unresolved issues over the custody and Bonnie business for it to be in keeping with jac's character.
Nevertheless, I had thought that we were meant to think they had genuinely strong feelings for each other but they seem to have completely undermined all of that now with Jac basically writing him off completely in comparison with Joseph.
Incidentally I definitely far preferred Jac and Joseph as a couple but I really doubt that Joseph will be back now. Even though I wish that wasn't the case.

Was pleased to see Jac. The show isn't the same without her. I thought the way she revealed her and Jonny had split up was typical of her behaviour and I wasn't surprised. Hope she's back full time soon.

Thought Elliott's exit was quite rushed and the previous time he had seen Brigitte he had a go at her about something, then all of a sudden he loves her? A bit strange really but sad to see him go all the same.

Absolutely loved the scenes with Dom and Digby. Dom's dad is a total chauvinist idiot. His mum is lovely but obviously weak.

It feels like that should have finished the season. Will Petrenko stay? Diggers and Dom have a new understanding. Ollie and Zosia will probably just be together next time we see them (they do that on Holby). Elliot gone. Seems much more suited to the end than

I'm afraid the more i reflect on this episode The less i like it, or rather the way it bulldozed over old continuity and therefore characterisation.

Yes, Jac referring back to how Joseph left was good continuity to their relationship and her feelings for him but it bulldoses over everything that has happened since. It made it seem like Jonny was never anything remotely serious or meaningful when we were told that she did love him and it is hard to believe that she would have left to go on Maternity Leave if she didn't really want to make a go of it with him and believed they had a chance. She was also a complete bitch over causing trouble (and she did) in his relationship with Bonnie if he was only ever a quick fix, rebound guy from Joseph.

More than that, they now give the impression that Elliot always loved Brigitte (despite no indication of it in her prior 2 episodes) and would have married her and still been with her if she hadn't aborted his baby. Because 'his face still lights up when he talks about her'. So what does that make Gina then? Just the 'better option'? The rebound who he settled for because she was willing to put her career on the backburner to have kids? Despite them having spent the entire 10 years elliot has been in the shown pre and post her death, presenting them as soul mates who never looked at anybody else.

Now, as i said earlier, it is possible to love more than one person in your life, deeply, equally but in different ways and that's what i thought they were doing with Jac, Joseph and Jonny and could have accepted elliot with Brigitte.

But it seemed to me, (and i might be reading it wrong), that they were sayng Brigitte is Elliot's Joseph, the love of his life, the one that he was stupid to let go when young but finally he gets a second chance with, something Jac will never get with her 'one' Joseph.

And i just think that ++++es over Jonny and gina's 'memories' and also makes Jac and Elliot look like pretty horrible human beings for having used them as they did.

No, Ric started at the beginning of Season 4, elliot the beginning of Season 8 so he predates him by 4 years.

Given the number of breaks Quarshie has had, Bradley might not be far behind him in episode count though.

Quarshie is way ahead at 494 episode. Next up is tina Hobley at 411, then Bradley at 387 and Marcel at 378. It then drops down to Jaye Jacobs (Donna) at 299 with Amanda Mealing, Hari Dhillon, Robert Powell, Bob Barratt and Luke Roberts not far behind.

I saw it differently... More of a you can love someone who won't put you first. Jac knew Joseph wouldn't but she thinks she should have gone with him. Brigitte would always put her career first. Elliot loved his wife. Always. It is just Brigitte is a second chance to have someone, like Jonnys was Jacs (although that seems to have gone south), Digby got a second chance and Ollie has a second chance with Zosia. Basically says it in the title: At First I was Afraid (Elliot, Jac, Digby, Dom, Ollie... All of th m).

Maybe, as I said, my perception of what they were trying to do might have been off.

It did still seem to be saying that they'd have been happier if they'd had the courage to go with it first time, which rather negates the time in between and the people they were with during that time.

Also, everybody gets a second chance except Jac? Or we are to believe that she is just so damaged that she has ++++ed her second chance up - again. Which fills me with dread as to how they are going to write her upon her full time return.

I know, i take it too seriously. Really, i don't, i'll 'get over' it but right.now i just feel really pissed off that my favourite character in any show, probably ever, has been shafted yet again and will probably continue to be. I honestly don't see her ever getting a happy ending for her now, the incredibly brief, temporary one she got for the maternity leave is going to be it and they couldn't even let her have that for the full period of the maternity leave.

Who knows. They might have her with Jonny when she gets back and she was making a quib. Jac doesn't get happy endings... She isn't that character to make things work in her personal life. She has a child now though...why can't that be her happy ending. I didn't think they were saying that about Elliot. And who on Holby hascever made it work. Elliot and Ollie's wives died and Ollie didn't exactly have a fulfilled relationship with her... Or anyone. Sacha...no. Guy... Widower. zosia... No. Digby...no. Dom...no. Rafe... Had anothrr man's baby. List goes on. The ones that did left together.

I don't see it as denigrating Gina, although I might be wrong. I think they were saying that Gina was the right person for Elliot at the time but now she's gone and he needs to take a chance and grab the opportunity to be happy again, in the way that Jac didn't with Joseph and has ended up regretting. Why that automatically means her and Jonny didn't/couldn't work out I don't know. As I said, hopefully their status will be more fully explored when she comes back full time. They have a child together, the show can't suddenly pretend he never existed.
