But didn't Diggers 'come out' a couple of weeks ago?
He kissed Dom as an 'up yours' to Dominic's homophobia father - he isn't gay himself. |

I have wondered the same thing about Guy Henry - did he only agree to come back on reduced hours, or something. He just tops and tails each episode now and it's not enough!!!!!
So, i think it is more than likely that he requested they keep his hours down this time round. Re jac, whilst i'd love for her to be content personally and them just concentrate on work storylines rather than throwing more angst at her - i just remember oliver Kent's answer when asked why jac was never allowed to be happy for more than an episode - that happy is an ending and they don't want Jac ending. Also that they have to stay 'true' to her character which is damaged etc. Plus, rosie prefers playing her 'spiky'. So, i'm not holding out much hope of her being fulfilled in any way. I also predict rivalry and arguments with Mo who i think will be wanting more responsibility and credit at work plus might resent Jac if she has 'hurt' Jonny again. We don't know what caused the break uo, who dumped who don't forget. |

Guy Henry asked to leave in 2011 because he was exhausted by his work load (and if you look at season 13 he was in all but 2 or 3 episodes and as part of a major plot each week) He only agreed to stay when they promised they'd cut it down a bit.

Next week is the start of the 18th series and seems to be Mo heavy and although he's not listed in the credits, I'm pretty sure Mr T's in it so hopefully we might see a bit of movement with their future?

I thought that was a very disappointing series ending. It was fairly obvious the wedding wasn't going to happen but I thought the whole thing would be slightly more exciting than that!
It was nowhere nearly as good as the mid series episode with all the exits in April. Are Ollie and Zosia together now then or not? If not they really have dragged this out for far too long! |

What a very lackluster end to a season. That said, i don't remember what happened last year either so can't have been overly significant.
I guess there is no real reason for there to be a huge event, it's not as though there is a break but it is nice to have some sense of an 'ending' I suppose such as a death (linden), end of long running storyline (such as the end of the CT vs Plastics was in Season 13) or Chrissie's wedding. I suppose, for anybody that cares about Adele and Jesse it will have been a big episode. Self really likes redheads doesn't he, Kim Thomson's character, Jac, Fran. On the plus side, nice to see David Collings even though he was virtually unrecogniseable ohysically. No mistaking that voice though. |

David Collings! Personally I recognised him instantly. If nothing else, he's had the same haircut since at least 1977. Haven't seen him on television in about 20 years... Naturally, he was the best thing about it and managed to be crotchety with Adele and get away with it, even if he did give her a big speech about how much she's helped them. The attempt to parallel the pair with Jesse and Adele didn't work but overall the storyline was interesting: A modern marriage in a different era.
I enjoyed the Cara storyline even though it feels a bit like a short-term story masquerading as a long-term one. I'm surprised Jed didn't even seem to deny that the baby's his, and it did feel uncomfortably like him going to his death at the end. Cara tramples all over protocol by hiding the fact she's treating her husband, which probably won't be mentioned. But that ending...huh? It felt like it basically came down to Adele being a self-absorbed brat, it's notable that even Petra Letang doesn't seem able to understand or agree with her character's actions, so pity us poor audience members. Throw in a final scene which stretches for an analogy between that and Guy and Jesse's spat and comes across as Guy talking nonsense, plus the fact that Fran gives Guy an ego boost (and apparently more) in what seems to be the first conversation they've ever had, and that really wasn't very well planned out... |

Wow, that Adele/Jesse scene plumbed new depths of appalling writing; i suppose its a fitting end to a relationship that has felt unbelievable and forced since the start. The personality change required of Jesse for this entire storyline ruined what was a promising start for his character and wasted an exciting actor. Saint Adele has always been an annoying and unbelievable character portrayal; ideally she will now fade away and Jesse will get his mojo back.

I did say last week that. Judging from the Inside Soap interview, Adele was going to be annoying. This week as well.
I suppose in some ways i can see that she has been steam rollered a bit, Jesse has made the majority of the decisions but she could have said something much earlier. It does just come across as her being an ungrateful brat but no doubt she won't be blamed at all |

That really was a dull episode. Adele was completely selfish and cold towards Jessica. She is such an awful character with no redeeming qualities. With that speech she gave about wanting to do things I'm hoping that means she'll bugger off soon. Does anyone know where they're going with selfie? Its like they don't know what to do with him. He seems completely unaffected or unchanged by the recent bomb threat.

A poor episode, I agree with all the above posts.
Is it just me or is there something slightly seedy about the Selfie/Fran hook up??? |

Is it just me or is there something slightly seedy about the Selfie/Fran hook up??? I was disappointed with the episode as I had thought they would tie a few storylines up or at least move things further forward. The vast mojority of us would have worked out that the wedding was never going to happen, but even the outcome of that was bland and boring. In addition, we've got the Cara storyline which has really moved no further forward as it was pretty clear last week that her marriage was over. The Ollie and Zosia storyline where it wasn't clear exactly what is happening with the two of them. STILL!! Some weird hook up plot between Guy and Fran which came from nowhere. Speaking of Guy, what was the point of the bomb plot when it has never been mentioned since and has seemingly had no effect on any of the characters. I got that it was intended as some sort of redemption for Fletch but they didn't even follow that up! We should still be assuming that Fletch has left Holby as that was what we were told the last time he appeared, but I have a feeling that he will be on screen next week with no explanation as to why he didn't leave. In addition, Morven had supposedly told Digby that she was leaving Holby several weeks ago and then she appeared back the next week with no mention of what had happened the week before. |

Didn't Serena basically tell Fletch they'd do anything to keep him there, or something like that, the week after the bomb? It wasn't followed up on but I've assumed that meant he was staying.
Like you I presumed the whole 'saving everyone from the bomb' plot and the interchange with Serena meant that he would stay, but there was no mention of him actually changing his mind. |

Yes, I thought so too. I also thought it looked very forced and unnatural.

I've just read Simon Harper's interview. 2 things spring to mind:
Spoiler
Also, I see Harper is talking about pursuing former characters for cameo returns at the moment. Does anyone have any thoughts on who that might be? Possibly Chrissie or Spence again as those two do have ongoing links with the show. Personally, I'd love to see Mary Claire back for a guest appearance. I would love it if they did an episode for her wedding to Harry, complete with unicorns and purple dresses!
