Weirdly, I was fairly sure that Sorcha would die from quite early on in that episode.
Either I'm magically clairvoyant, or Holby City is just very predictable... and I'm not sure which. |

Predictable... Doesnt mean it was a bad storyline way to go though. I always thought Mo being pregnant was randomn. Was the actress pregnant when she started?
To be honest, I like people having dramas in their personal lives that aren't especially connected to any particular storyline, it's more true to life. But I think them doing that was more to have an effect on Jac. Mo and Jonny joined at the same time, it's quite likely that the producers had already intended the Emma storyline at that point, and Mo being pregnant may have triggered that a little with Jac - especially as she was the one who delivered William. |

It was predictable. It is also seems predictable that Mo will bond with William and not want to give him up, maybe even to the point of contesting custody. After all, arguably, Sorcha's finace isn't a blood relative either so has no more claim to him. It will rather depend on how long they've been together and whether he has any parental responsibility legally.
No, chizzy wasn't pregnant when she joined. I think it was just done to add a little mystery to her character in the first few months as they didn't announce she was pregnant in the initial character biogs - it was something like, there is something huge with Mo which will be obvious the first time you see her. We then weren't told the circumstances until the episode she gave birth which was over 2 months later so there was uncertainty all that time - was she married, had she been dumped, would she be leaving quickly etc. It was just a 'hook' dramatically. It also had the added benefit of adding an extra dynamic to the jonny/Jac situation - as Marcel said at the time (an interview i reread yesterday as it happened) - Jac doesn't want anybody to know about her and Jonny, she doesn't understand his relationship with Mo, she can't help wondering if he is the father but can't ask as they aren't meant to be 'serious' and finally, she immediately discounts Mo as being any competition professionally as she thinks getting pregnant is the worst thing a female surgeon can do and assumes she'll be buggering off within a couple of months so isn't worthy of any respect or investment as a colleague. I doibt they had Emma planned at that early stage, they'll have wanted to see how viewers responded to Jonny and his relationship with Jac aside from anything else. If you think about it, she fell pregnant almost exactly a year after they arrived so it will probably have been plotted at the second or third storylining conference after they arrived as it started in the second half of season 15 whereas the surrogacy was mid Season 14 Also, i think they did it to show what a kind person Mo is but then show her having 'lost' something which arguably made her slightly more guarded and bitter - especially when she was 'losing' her best friend to Jac around the same time. It was mentioned a few times that Mo didn't feel she was getting the support she'd expected from Jonny after the surrogacy because he was so wrapped up in his love life. Finally, it did make a connection with Jac as the birth forced them to open up to each other a little in a way they wouldn't normally do. |

BOOM! Predicted the Jessie moving to surgery.
Why isn't Ollie and Jessie on the BBC characters page and Elliot still is?

I thought that episode was a very big improvement on last week's. It was completely predictable that sorcia would die and that Mo would take care of William but I thought Chizzy was brilliant tonight. I think she is one of the best actresses on the show and she really showed what she is made of in tonight's episode.
The Jesse surgery storyline is both predictable and a bit silly. In what other hospital could you be an anaesthetist one week, have a quick chat with your boss and then be a surgeon for 3 months! The minute Guy mentioned Jesse having previously been a surgeon (which we'd never heard of before) I knew they were going that way with it. Also Jesse has recovered very well from being jilted at the altar last week. So much so that he didn't mention it! I'm starting to really warm to cara too. The storyline with Dora was touching too. I think her and raf would make a lovely couple! Enjoying Ollie and Zosia's banter too although it really doesn't make sense that they are not together yet and it seems to be conflict for conflict's sake. Also don't remember them ever specifically agreeing to 'just be friends.' Presume that happened off screen! Predicting the old staple of a near death experience or an offer of a job abroad to finally push them together. |

I'd have to disagree that the surrogacy never went anywhere. Perhaps not in terms of plots (until now) but in terms of building Mo's character, motivations and relationships with other characters - especially how they viewed her. It was rather a shorthand way of ensuring everybody she worked with thought she was lovely, kind etc so would try and help her. Elliot even stated it as a fact not long afterwards to Jac - that if it were a choice between helping her or helping Mo, he'd help Mo because she was a nicer person that would put herself out for others. There were also several other times when it has come up, when Sorcha was moving away, his first birthday when she was sent a photo, her being sympathetic to Jac during her pregnancy with Emma and discussing her own experience.
I do also remember commenting that Mo was 'harder' during the winter of 2012 and wondering if it was a reaction to giving William up and remarking that is was actually quite clever as it was subtle. This was back when character continuity and development was still a strong point of the show. I wish I could find the posts (pretty sure they were in my episode reviews on HTV) but they're so old they'll have dropped off the archives now I suspect. |

How come Fletch is still working there ?
Mo gave him his marching orders and his last day was the day of the grenade explosion. So when did he decide to stay working at Holby ? Does Mo know and does she mind ? |

Also he didn't mention being jilted but it came up in convo with Adele and Mo. Mo: "I know I should be focusing on you at the moment" Adele: "No its fine". YOU'R the one who BLOODY left him! YOU strung him along! YOU toyed with his feelings! YOU don;'t deserve any sympathy! |

Yes this is a complete lack of continuity. They have never even referenced the fact that he ultimately decided to stay. The last we saw of him on screen he had handed in his notice and there was no indication that he changed his mind after Serena told him she didn't want to leave.
![]() The whole hospital are keeping it a secret from Mo that he's still working there. ![]() ![]()

They don't bother to update as frequently as they should? Which might also explain your spoiler - it might be an old photo.

I missed some of the very beginning. Was it Ollie's birthday or Zosia's? Where does that leave us on the Ollie and Penny being only one academic year apart if his birthday is in October so near the beginning? That doesn't leave much room for her - she'd have to be The Aurumn term the year before. It would be much easier if she'd been Autumn/Winter one year (say 85) and he'd been Spring or summer 18 months or so later (say 87).
Yes, i don't know much about it but isn't some kind of test or retraining period cumpulsary if you've been out of Surgery for a certain period of time? And logically, he must have left long enough ago to have respecialised as a Gasser and then done the job for long enough to be promoted to Consultant? I mean, many professional qualifications lapse after not working in the industry for a prolonged period so you have to prove relevent experience and that you are up to date with the most recent techniques, procedures, laws etc. If professional bodies like AAT have that rule (to name one), surely the Royal College of Surgeons will too as any mistakes by somebody rusty could kill a Patient. I guess this is one of the examples of 'not getting bogged down in real world procedures as we are interested in the drama' aspects Harper mentioned in his interview last week. It was a stronger episode than recently but frankly i think that was mainly down to Chizzy emoting her socks off. It didn't especially inspire me with confidence as to this being the kickstart of a great new season. Although I am beginning to like Cara as well and Raf is so much better post Harry and Amy. |

Zosia started on Kellar, early Summer 2013. Then moved to Darwin in the autumn - she was working there when Self joined and Elliot assumed she was spying when in fact she was writing about her Mother. Then she went back to Kellar early 2014. ETA - just seen somebody else has already said this. |

Fran is a real puzzle to me, I find her very strange indeed. She certainly brings out the worst in Essie, I thought she had a real cheek telling Sacha that it was down to him to tell Fran to go as it was she who invited her there in the first place.
Where is this Mo SL going? Is she keeping William for good??? It was an "ok" episode for me. |

Obi-Wan; "there is nothing wrong with Ollie and Pennys age/academic years"
Excuse me Mr Kenobi you forgot Jessie. "Oh F-Sake, You can simply change specialities. Happy! Find someone else to sort out your continuity problems." (Holby City HR departments on the paperwork in a flash, they can do miricles in that office )

Mo's SL I think we might finally get some idea what she wants if her life + some resolution to the vvvvv slow burn Mr T SL. This was a "GOOD" episode for me! Even though I complained a lot about 'HER' the last two weeks have been bad. |
