In the battle of '95 I bought Country House but went on to be a bigger Oasis fan.

Generally think that both bands have an equal mix of great and average songs. Probably leaning a little bit more towards Blur at the moment though.

Oasis their first album was fantastic...after that they went downhill.

Blur offered far more originality & creativity.

More even now.

Radiohead were my thing, though.

Blur overall, by a nose.

The Masterplan and 13 are my favourite albums from each.

I probably prefer Damon's side projects over both of them.

Definitely Maybe is great and they did other good stuff (and were brilliant when I saw them live) but for overall output, Blur by a street. Favourites are Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife and, particularly, Blur, one of my all time favourite albums. Really liking the new stuff I've heard too, so bring on the album release....

Suede, as much for Bernard Butler's guitar work as anything else.

I can't personally include Pulp in brit pop, I'd been interested in them since their first Peel session in 81 and bought their stuff on Fire before seeing them in the flesh supporting the Fall in 93.

Blur v Oasis.

Blur hands down, Oasis where a derivative pub rock band IMO.

Oasis released most of their best material before the Britpop battle.

Blur released most of their best material after the Britpop battle.

Live Forever was the only decent song Oasis had, although their cover of I Am The Walrus was at least half decent. Wonderwall was simply embarrasing.
Blur came out with their fair share of crap, but they could show more inventiveness in a single song than Oasis could in an entire album.

It's similar to being asked if you would prefer to drown or be burned to death.

Bit harsh to say that 'Whats the Story' was 'going downhill'. It was a fantastic album.

Ha! You beat me to it.

But actually out of Blur and Oasis, I'd have to go with Blur - over their career I think they just had a wider range of more creative output. I'd always be far more interested to hear a new Blur album (even if it wasn't all my thing) than I would ever be to hear a new Oasis album. Plus the one time I saw Oasis they were terrible. It was the last time they were at Glastonbury and just couldn't be arsed at all. Blur on the other hand were a completely different story - huge amount of love for them from the crowd to the point that Damon was practically in tears by the end.

One of my younger flock came unto me at the time and asked "Who do you prefer? The Blur band, or the Oasis band?"
"Ah, my ignorant child," I replied "the Lord Jesus is number 1 in my charts every day of the year."
"Yes but," replied the youth, upon whose ears my words had fallen like barley among the stones, "ignoring Jesus, who is your favourite?"
"Ah but you cannot ignore Jesus, because he is everywhere, and in everything, and he is good."
Then the youth got me in a head lock and said "Stop turning everything around to Jesus. Just this once, who is your favourite, the Blur band or the Oasis band?!"
"Ow!" I said "Ow! You're hurting me. Ok, ok, it is the Blur band."
"Good!" He said as he arrogantly turned and walked away.
But as he went, I whispered "It's not really. It's Jesus." And he never heard.
