Jane Beale - worse than Janine
Has there ever been a more self-entitled, stuck-up-her-own-arse, unmaternal, cold-hearted woman on EastEnders before?!
I adore Queen Janine. Always have done. And I would never compare her to Jane. However, I have seen on other forums that people have been comparing the two characters and their cruel deeds. That is totally wrong... Jane is worse than Janine. At least Janine had a heart. At least she had morals, despite everything bad she did. She's always regretted doing what she did in some form. Janine was never self-entitled. Jane lacks that. Jane lacks remorse. Do you really think she was taking Lucy to the hospital in the boot of her car? She wasn't. She was planning on dumping her body. She spun that lie to make herself look better in the scenario. Evil old witch. I wish she'd stayed in Cardiff.

Jane is a hypocrite but she does have a good heart. I will always prefer Janine over Jane. Janine is a complex woman and is actually quite vulnerable deep down. I'm not a big fan of Jane at the moment, to be honest.

Oh, and let's not forget her abhorrent treatment of Cindy Jnr lately. It is evident for anyone to see that Cindy is suffering from post-natal depression. But not for Jane. Nope... Jane just thinks about herself and what she could gain. Again. I mean, what kind of idiot would suggest Cindy take Beth out for a walk on her own without any supervision, when she knows full well that Cindy is struggling to cope with motherhood? Nice one, Jane.
(Granted, Ian is also very unsympathetic in this story. But in the early stages of it, it was Jane pressuring Cindy AND Ian into giving Beth to her.) |

I like Jane but I hate how she uses Mas! I'm still baffled how Ian just accepted Jane chucking Lucy in the car boot and leaving her on the common. But I guess he had to, or the story couldn't move forward.

Janine showed that she could sometimes have a heart. In her last appearance (I'm sure she'll be back in the future) during the trial, she changed her statement as she was wracked with guilt about Alice Branning. If she had no heart she'd have probably let Alice take the fall even after she heard about the suicide attempt.

I agree Jane is cold and certainly acted heartlessly with Lucy BUT and it's a big BUT she hasn't actually killed anyone unlike Janine who has done so twice and attempted it at least one other time. Also she was extremely heartless and cold where Barry was concerned and when she was poisoning Ryan

Janine was a love to hate character but Jane has just been ruined in the Beth storyline tbh.

I love Jane! But they have taken her down this road now so its going to have to lead somewhere and my guess is crazy town.
Hopefully after a quick chat with Stacy Jane will hand her self into the police. After serving 2 and a half hours for accessory to murder and disposing of a body. And a list of her other crimes. She will be back frying eggs in the cafe! |

Ian! I will never understand him forgiving her for this. I can only surmise that he's so pathetic nowadays he literally can't cope on his own and needs a woman there AT ANY COST. Pathetic. No wonder Peter could barely look at him when he left. But then I remember that Ian has been the victim of mental illness so have to wonder if that's something to do with his reaction now and if it will set him over the edge again? Also what bugs me is that Lucy (IMO) was his favoured child and most of the time he barely noticed that Bobby was there yet has totally forgiven him? Nah, I doubt it. He's 'forgiven' him to suit Jane and to keep her there, if Jane ever leaves, dies or they split up another way I reckon we'll see his real feelings towards Bobby come out! (* how was Jane absolutely certain she was dead? How? Sometimes pulses are so faint only medical professionals can find them and as far I know Jane ain't no nurse!) Quote:

Jane should be (and indeed was) an 'every woman' character and I think she needs to get back to that.Italics: ![]()
