Soaplife has mentioned Dean's anger when he is released from prison, last time, he came back and attacked Shirley, why why has this been forgotten?

We need to know about Dean's life in prison.

Dean raped an innocent woman then tried to brand her a liar while throwing it in her families face. He deserves to have a rough time in prison. Booo hoo if he cries. If this is EE wanting us to feel sorry for a rapist then it shows how misjudged the storyline has been. Its starting to offend me now.

If love to know about how prison went for Dean originally, it was so interesting when he attacked Shirley on his final appearance as Deano after being released. I just want this storyline to end now though

This story hasn't been good for any of the characters involved, imo -

I love Shirley -she is played by the wonderful Linda Henry who never ceases to impress, but Shirley is facing a lot of backlash for standing by Dean - there was supposed to be this new 'era' for her and I was hoping that would include Buster and a reconciliation within the Carter clan.

Buster - Karl Howman has always been a household favourite, but he has only just come back and has already been drawn into this mess.

Mick - Danny Dyer can be hit or miss but I liked pre-Christmas Mick, I can understand his anger but right now he is irritating me.

Linda - this should have been a powerful story for her but in all honesty, it's a mess and Dean should NOT have been the rapist.

Dean is done, he can't stay, there is no possible way. Even if they explored mental health, it still just wouldn't be feasible for him to stay - I can understand Shirley's guilt for putting her son in the slammer but trying to make the audience feel sorry for Dean is making me uncomfortable. I know in real life there are rapists who do repent and regret what they did but they have not shown this with Dean.

I would rather Dean just turned in to and out and out villain or on the square causing trouble or admitting to what he has done, so long as it meant that Shirley, Buster and Denise knew the truth and didn't stand by him once it was out. I keep mentioning Dean's attack on Shirley when he was first released from prison - why has this not been addressed? I am surprised that Dean hasn't been violent or anything towards Shirley actually, considering how his anger drives his darker side and he had a lot of anger towards his mum.

I think there will be a Linda/Dean confrontation soon, where Linda will possibly make Dean fully realise what he did. I just wish the 'satisfying conclusion' would hurry up, the story is taking so many good characters down with it and I don't want to see that. I want to see Shirley and Linda have a heart to heart and it really hitting home, Mick and Shirley reconciling, Buster staying on the square with Shirley, Dean getting his comeuppance, the baby to be Mick's and just some happier times for them. They seem to go from one extreme to the other.

I'm getting fed up of people saying something happened to Dean when he was in prison. Dean is a rapist and he can't be redeemed. If they try to make us feel sorry for Dean, then I will be furious. I really hope Dean leaves and he should be locked up in jail. What he did was disgusting and inexcusable.

I wont be feeling sorry for Dean at all, he is getting what he deservers, imo.

Yup - this 'he had a bad life so he needs our sympathy' not our judgement crap is so offensive to me. Even last night people were trying to paint Mick and the other Carters as the bad guys and poor widdle Dean as the victim even after he swanned into the pub and taunted them again. But hey, rape apology - it's the done thing.

But it's no surprise that must of the ones saying that are the ones who act like Shurley should be forgiven for every little sin because she had a bad childhood too. Obviously people's faves can have every excuse under the sun flung at them until people find one that sticks.

I don't care if Dean has a tough time in prison. I'm sorry he's messed up because of what happened before, but is no excuse for what he did and the fact that we're supposed to believe that it is bothers me.

I really don't understand where EE are going with Dean. He's on the front of Inside Soap with 'Dean's agony' - are they trying to make us forget all that he did?

They may have realised that making Dean a rapist was a bad move, but the character can't really remain on the show or the story will never progress!

He may have been when he was in prison before, it was certainly alluded to on a number of occasions both after his initial release and when he returned last year.

Dean being raped in prison this time would not be justice for Linda. DTC has said that the storyline has a shocking but satisfying conclusion. However, it would be shocking - shocking that the storyline ends up this way. I really don't know what they are planning.

I agree. I find Dean more interesting to watch then the others. Pre rape mick was lovely but now I. Can't stand him or linda. I hope Dean actually kills mick off. The rest of the carters I like but Tina and Nancy have lost abit of what I liked about them in Friday's episode. I want johnny, Zsa zsa and Carly to return and mick and linda can F off to Watford with Elaine or killed off. Dean should be punished but he can act and seeing the rapists side makes a change. He can get mental health treatment and come to terms what he has done. Seeing his prison life might also allow us to understand him more and possibly discover he was raped In prison which make him hostile upon release back in 08.

Dean's "agony" could refer to heartbreak over Stan dying and a tough time in prison. Of course, that doesn't excuse or condone his rape of Linda but it's possible to take the stance of it being right that he is serving prison time for the crime (for a few weeks anyway) and still sympathise with him losing his granddad and getting ill treated in prison.

I agree about preferring the pre rape Mick. He was a relaxed happy family man who overcame his fear of swimming and was a friend to Alfie, Sharon etc.

Dean's prison picture is also on the EE website. It's all very interesting because do they think that Dean is popular or Matt is? I would love to know the thinking behind this whole storyline.

I don't know why people think Dean has to leave or come to justice for the story to progress.

Bad stuff happens and a lot of time people get away with it, how come this is different for a soap?

To people saying Dean doesn't need to leave, he does. The only way this story can progress and move forward is by Dean being taken out of the picture otherwise we are going to get the same scenes over and over and over and over and over on a loop because Linda, Mick, Lee and Nancy will never forgive him and don't want anything to do with him. Even Tina doesn't want to be around him so unless they all forgive Dean and start playing happy families - which would make a mockery of the entire story, he has to leave. Its already one big repetitive mess because the story isn't moving forward.
