I'm sorry, but as a fan of John Bardon and his work, I'm absolutely appalled that DTC couldn't dedicate just one episode of EastEnders to him. It now turns out that Jim and Stan's funerals will take place on the same day, which I find very disgusting. I was hoping that I could pay my respects to John as I watch Jim's on-screen funeral but knowing that it's going to be overshadowed by the Carters and one of there many "shock revelations" as the episode guides tell us, I feel I can't do that now.

Was it too much to ask of DTC? Does he shake and quiver at the thought of not including the Carters in an episode? This is the last straw for me.

I'm with you FG. I'm holding onto this show by the finger tips atm. There are no engaging storylines, no more likeable characters, no realism, no sensitivity. EastEnders seem to be short changing us at every turn and I'm sick and tired of it. While I'm looking forward to Kathy's return, Vincent's arrival and whatever Buster has to bring to the show I refuse to stick around if I'm not getting anything in the meantime.

What are you talking about?!

The Carters are obviously Britain's favourite family. I mean the whole nation adore them! They've carried and carried EastEnders right back up to the top, and the show just wouldn't be the same without them.

Dot & Jim will obviously be a side plot, why the nation pays their respect to the iconic Stan Carter...

Tbh, I can't wait for Stan's funeral... I wonder what shocks & surprises the Carters have in store for us this time. Will Mick clash with Dean? Will Shirley tell Linda she's her mom? Will Nancy & Lee do anything, other than stand there gorping? Whatever happens, strap yourself in, as it's bound to be an epic week of British TV, with everyone's favourite family centre stage.

Don't forget, Stan Carter's presence will be felt forever and Walford will never ever be the same again, without this legendary character!

.

But yes, DTC's obsession with this borderline depressing family has gone from bad to worrying!

Yep. Why pay respects to a deceased man, when you can pay respects to the god almighty Stan Carter?

It does seem strange, but it does look as if Jim will be given a big send off, with Stan's being low key.

Are you suggesting EE have an episode with the Carters? Wash your mouth out with soap OP. That's blasphemy.

In seriousness I agree with you.

I've come to the conclusion that I like and respect Maddy Hill and Danny-Boy Hatchard as actors so much that I would rather they followed Sam Strike and saved themselves from letting this show ruin any chance of them having a career.

I suppose the Carter stuff is being kept hidden because of this "big secret" that the family are hiding. It's nice to see all my favourite characters attending, though.

I must pray to the Carters for forgiveness. Let me go get my mat and my Carter bible. I will read Chapter 5 of the "Before Rape" testament. I liked that testament much better.

I heard a rumour from a mate's brother's twin on set that Kathys return ties in nicely to Stan's long lost son and they return in the same episode. Whilst Ian and Kathy have a boring chat about life on the stall in the past 15 years, Mick, Linda, Dean and Shirley clash on who's is closest to this new son and who should be there for him when they tell him about his father's death. Its going to be tear jerking scenes. I just hope the Beale scenes don't ruin the Carter stuff too much.

When an actor/actress of an ITV soap dies the producers speak to the family and ask how they'd like the deceased's character to be written out. They carry out the family's wishes.

If it's the same with the BBC John Bardon's family might have wanted something quiet in which case their wishes would have to be abided by.

I've seen pictures of Stan's funeral...it's just a few of the Carters. It's not as if they knew Jim, so wouldn't have been at his anyway.

Sorry MG, like I said, there's no point watching a show if the episodes aren't interesting or entertaining you.

Thank you for the one sensible post in this thread. If only the tedious youth contingent of DS could think of that.

Weren't Ian & Jane and the Trueman's/Fox's filming at Stan's funeral? Surely they'd go to Jim's? Well, Ian & Jane anyway.

Which episodes haven't you liked? I thought last weeks was really good and the week beginning the 23rd March was really good and I thought the 5th, 6th, 18th and 19th March episodes were good and I thought the 23rd and 24th February episodes were really good.

No idea. But I'd expect Ian to be there for Mick, Sharon for Linda and Denise for Shirley. Then of course Cora and Patrick. Looks like some are going to spend all day going between funerals.

Edit: spotted Ian and Jane at Jim's.

I agree that Jim should have had one episode dedicated to him and him alone for his send off. Stan could have died a couple of weeks later and had his own day too.

It's a bizarre decision. Almost up there with that ratbag Derek Branning ruining Pat's death with his smirking and loitering

Dw, I'm sure the actors and actress's will all come along and tell you how they've changed this show forever...

Why would Sharon be there for Linda though? It's not Linda's dad who's passed away...

Patrick I agree. However, then again it's 50:50, as he was friends with both Stan and Jim.

Ian & Sharon for me a should be there for Jim's funeral, no question about it. If not for Jim, then especially for Dot. They also knew Jim more than they knew Stan.

It's silly having the funerals so close together.

Absolutely love this post Lou! XD

I'm disgusted by this too. It's a disgrace to both characters (especially Jim). Each should atleast have a funeral episode for thenselves and as jims is a tribute to John he should get a special week worth like frank did. It's a disgrace
