When does a number port happen on Vodafone?
rewind

Switched from Three to Vodafone a couple of weeks ago and asked for my mobile phone number to be switched today. So far I am still on the Vodafone number. Does anyone know at what time of the day the switch happens or does it vary?

Thanks.

There's no fixed time, it varies. It could happen at any point from 9am to 9pm.

It is highly variable. I've had ports completed by breakfast before and some that have taken until late evening.

Different elements of the port can complete at different times too. You may find that outgoing calls/sms update to the ported number before incoming calls and sms correct route to the receiving network

My old Three SIM has stopped working so swapped it for my Vodafone and I can use data and send texts but when I try to ring my old number from a different phone, it just says Invalid Number. Any clues?

It's just a side effect of the port, as others say it takes time for everything to start working.

Give it a few hours.

Vodafone port in 😐

Still nothing. When I ring or text people, it comes from my temporary Vodafone number. Weirdly though WhatsApp works with the number I have asked to port.

WhatsApp works over your internet connection, the number you use can be anything you can receive SMSes at, it has nothing to do with whatever network operator you are with.

As for the rest, if it's not working tomorrow I'd probably call up the network(s) and ask what is going on

Things must have been real bad for the OP to do this.

I moved to Vodafone earlier this year. Only reason so is that in my rural location (N Yorkshire) Vodafone have a good 4G service. I was with Three and though they had a good 3G service got sick of constant call dropping. Being Vodafone I expected a professional outfit really - reality was something else. Number wouldn't port to so had to contact 'support'. Over three hours later using online chat and then a phone call eventually to their 'porting team' progress was made. Still took over a week to port. I'm on a business account btw.

Check out Vodafones forum. There's seems to be plenty with porting issues. Their mobile service is good here though found it variable at best in other areas. Where I live and work - great. Their support just leaves a lot to be desired. Good luck

All sorted now. Rung them up and got put through to their porting team and the guy manually did the port for me. Thanks all.
