Just realized yesterday is the 10th Anniversary when Ken and Deirdre got married for a second time. Tomorrow will be 10 years since Ray Langton passed away in the Rovers.

I know Deirdre isn't in it, but would of been nice if Ken mentioned it and maybe Ray.

The make up department did a brilliant job In making Ray look like a character who was ravaged by cancer & Neville Buswell acted it out well!! I remember those episodes really vividly!!

Sad that so many great characters have left in those 10 years. Jack, Vera, Fred, Mike, Blanche and now Dierdre

I take it we're now seeing episodes on screen that were filmed after she died? I'm not sure what the time frame is for how far they film in advance

The other day Kate Ford looked like her eyes were all red (or puffy - like she'd been crying), and it didn't go with the storyline/scene she was in so it just made me think...

Indeed. The number of genuinely iconic characters in those episodes is quite something.

Liz Dawn and John Savident are still going too!

Watching that again, it's the most human moment Tracy's ever had. Heartbreaking, but I wish we saw that Tracy more.

Anyone know the time frame?

I know Lucy Fallon started filming in the last week of January and her first scene was Friday 20th March.

With Anne passing away on 19th January the cast would have known about a week before Bethany arrived back in Weatherfield.

I have a feeling it won't even be acknowledged, shame they don't even talk about her

It would have been nice if something had been said, even if only about Ray R.I.P., as it could be awkward mentioning Deirdre without having had any news about her.

Very true.

just because we haven't heard anything doesn't mean the characters haven't off screen.... it'd be normal to assume they're in constant contact with her otherwise they'd be worrying/ trying to contact her/ getting police involved.
so it would have been quite natural to see ken telling someone he'd been speaking to her as it's their anniversary.

The producers along with Anne's family have come to a decision of how to write Deirdre out of Corrie..we will see it in the summer..

I really hope the character dies and isn't sent off to 'live somewhere else' - it wasn't clear in the article when I read it. The character should have a funeral and a realistic ending, although I have doubts the current writing team are capable of that.

I totally agree...it's got to be a final ending..she was to iconic a character to be sent away into the blue...I think a fitting tribute would be her funeral with has many family and friends past and present attending...

Means it's Charles and Camilla's 10th too - surprised there's not been anything about that in the meejah.

There's no way she won't be killed off.

Let's hope it's done better than the 'tribute' to Betty Driver.

Has there ever been a case of a soap actor dying (when they're still in the show, or absent but still in the story) and their character not being killed off but written out some other way? Racking my brains but I can't think of any examples.

I guess if they didn't kill Deirdre off there'd always be the risk of a future producer being tempted to bring her back with a different head (although I doubt the viewers would stand for that).

When Casualty's Laura Sadler died tragically back in 2003, they wrote her character out by saying that she had won the Lottery and had left for Australia.
