Apple Watch already 4-6 weeks
I placed my order at 8:02 and was given a delivery date of 4-6 weeks. Does this mean high demand or limited stock ?

The website wasn't a speed problem for me - other than first directing me to the US site, and then it taking me a few seconds to work out I had to horizontally scroll to see the options. However, I have learnt my lesson from previous bad experiences that the "Apple Store down" message does not auto refresh. The fact that they keep changing the message to different languages is very beguiling, it makes you think the website will come online itself without being refreshed. |

The app came on about 10 minutes before the website so anyone ordering using the app got a head start on people using the site.
Got a black sport pre ordered with the 4-6 week estimate. Hopefully the earlier part of that estimate since I'm on holiday at the end of may. Also got a try on appointment at Manchester Arndale later today just to make sure it fits ok and I like it in the flesh. Also plan to try on the milanese loop standard watch as that was the model I wanted but I couldn't justify £600 especially on a 1st gen product and most reviews have strongly hinted that people should buy the sport model until later gens come out |

I ordered a 38mm black Sport at 8:06 and have 4-6 weeks delivery.
Nearly all of the promotional pictures from Apple showed either a steel or silver aluminium Watch. I think the grey/black Sport is going to be by far the most popular model. |

The app came online almost straightaway (about 8.02 for me), whereas the website seemed to take considerably longer (think it was gone 8.10 before I saw it working). Even when I got on the app straight away it looked like certain models had a 4-6 week from the outset (most of the stainless steel ones for sure). This had been rumoured from a couple of days ago when the German Apple site had inadvertently included shipping estimates for the models. It didn't take long for the sport models to begin hitting 4-6 weeks too though, and now it looks like most of them are at June or later.
Ended up opting for a silver sport with white band (managed to get the 24/4-5/8 delivery window) and a separate leather loop strap (2-4 weeks) to go with it. Had been considering the stainless steel with leather loop but in the end common sense stopped me forking out £599 for a 1st gen, and this way I have two straps to choose from and still spent far less than for the steel model. Will probably head to the Glasgow store over the weekend to check them out in the flesh just to make sure I'm happy. |

Back from my try on session. Thought I'd mention a couple of my observations when trying it on:
1. Although apple recommend a trying on appointment, they appeared to be accommodating walk ins as well 2. The try on units are demo devices. Don't expect to be able to try out the interface while it is on your wrist. The units will just cycle through a few a few demo screens. There did appear to be some functioning demo devices on display though but not to try on 3. The wrist sizing guides for each strap seem to be quite generous. I have larger than average wrists but could still fit into each strap I tried quite comfortably with some room for even larger wrists 4. The larger model isn't as large as it appears in photographs and seemed a good size on my wrist. I was slightly concerned that the large model would be too big and cumbersome but the trying on session alleviated that. 5. Even the apple store employees think the pricing on the gold models (which the store I visited didn't have) is ridiculous. 6. When the device tries to notify you of something there is a very noticeable click/buzz on your wrist. Some reviews suggested people may have to tone down the things it notifies you of, email in particular and I would agree. |
